Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

The FreeRepublic Phenomina: The word goes out that B-52's are taking off and America counts about 6.5 hours and starts watching TV......
That was absolutley born at FR.C
More are leaving Fairford now.....TV time: 4:30 eastern
TV time allows for tacticle home moves often necessary prior to the TV/FR.C profile that carries one through to the next interruption

I suspect that CentCom will say something about it in their next briefing (9 am EST). The original story came from the J. Post reporter embedded with a unit in that area.

Fox News alalyst says we have a terrorist stonghold with about 900 bad guys surrounded by the Kurds. We have taken out about 100 with air strikes, more air strikes coming. We dropped in a couple hundred Special Forces guys to help the Kurds. He says this tells you how big a threat we think these guys are. They are from a group originally started by the Iranians who now don't want anything to do with them, so they have hooked up with Al Qaeda.
Didn't get the analyst's name, but he is a former deputy army secretary.

Beeb analysis of Saddamn's "historic speech" with conclusion: It's pre-recorded. I'm shocked!

Fred Francis reported on MSNBC that a commander of forces in northern Iraq would hold a presser this morning...that was about two hours ago.

Did I miss anything? Aussie SAS troops are reported (by the Aust MINDEF) to be in and round Baghdad doing all kinds of bad things to the RG.

Beeber in Qatar describing "asymmetric warfare." Gee, where have I heard that term before? Hope it helps the BeebDweeb who keeps worrying about "more resistance than expected."

They are so full of themselves!Oh, they're full of food byproducts alright!

I finally linked to BBC (thanks, Dog) and was watching this reporter with totally inappropriate hand gestures to go with what he was saying. It was very distracting. I finally realized he's a signer! I evidently picked the link for hearing impaired! LOL!

MSNBC Webcam feed #6 (David Bloom). [Someone posted that this is Kerry Sanders' cam.] Anyway, it is on. Not much is going on, but it is live and showing the heroes between "actions".
FYI if you get tired of the talkingheads and the sedate Bagdadcams.

Thank you for the Centcom briefing time. I hadn't heard that yet this AM. Time to make more coffee.

TV/FR.C - Is that your phrase, Wizard? I like it! Funny, how quickly we've adapted to the coverage. All those Howlin live threads were just a warm up.
FoxNews is putting on POW family members...DON'T DO IT, FOX! Iraqi torturers will hear. We're war babies.
