Michael Moore booed as he slams Iraq war at Oscars March 24 2003
Famed US documentary maker Michael Moore used his win of an Oscar today to launch a violent attack on US President George W Bush and war in Iraq amid loud boos from the audience.
"We live in fictitious times," he said when picking up the award for best documentary for his anti-gun film Bowling for Columbine.
"We live in a time with fictitious election results that elect fictitious presidents. We live in a time when we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons.
"We are against this war Mr Bush. Shame on you. Shame on you!," he said to loud boos from an audience of 3,500 including most of Hollywood's top stars.
When he went backstage at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre to face reporters, Moore was unapologetic for his outburst.
"I'm an American, and you don't leave your citizenship when you enter the doors of the Kodak Theatre. What's great about this country is that you can speak your mind," he said.
He said that, far from being appalled, many people in the audience stood up to applaud him.
"I say tonight I put America in a good light," he said praising the decision to push ahead with the Oscars despite the war raging in the Middle East.
"I showed how vital it is to have free speech in our country and all Americans have the right to stand up for what they believe in," he said.

Jabba-the-Moore, or Michael-the-Hutt, is a bloated, egotistical, slob.
I'm so happy to hear they booed this fat, dumb, Marxist, pig off the stage.
Probably headed right over to the Oscar party so he could be first in line at the buffett table...

That is physically impossible. Women have to be attracted to men who look like men, or the species won't survive.

What's great about this country is that you can speak your mind," he (Moore) said.Moore is a piece if scum. Anybody with even one iota of common sense and common decency knows that there is a right time and a right place for speaking your mind, and on the stage at the Academy Awards, after having just received an Oscar, is neither the right time nor the right place. I really wish that somebody from the audience would've run up onto the stage and punched Moore right in the nose for what he said.

He probably would have wet his pants and run away screaming. He couldn't last a day at an auto plant before giving up like a little girl.

There are no words for slime like MM. Since our troops are risking their lives and some making the supreme sacrifice for our freedom, what would the hollyweird leftests do if all of America made a sacrifice and stopped going to see ANY and ALL of their puke at the theaters (no matter what the movie) or renting any of their trash from the video stores until our troops come home? That would really give them a message. I for one will not see a movie until then or rent a movie. With regards to those hollyweird socialists (BS, Alex B, et al) I do not watch any of their trash movies even on TV. To see them makes me nauseous. In my book they are not patriots and are not Americans!!!

"I say tonight I put America in a good light," Actually, he is right. I got to be impressed with the rest of that Hollywood audience that booed him. He made them look very good indeed.

"We live in a time with fictitious election results that elect fictitious presidents. We live in a time when we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons." The election of 2000 was undoubtedly the most real election of my lifetime. W is more real than the majority of presidents who have held office in my lifetime. And, anyone who still claims that we've gone to war for make believe reasons has a wish to prove to the world how truly delusional he is.
