"Political leadership is trying to fight a politically correct war. Trying to avoid killing the enemy. We think they are trying to surrender, when in fact they are lying to us. We must kill all enemy soldiers and leaders now, and only accept a surrender when it is given unconditionally."

...And you got the entire war all figured out from media overreporting of two incidents? Conveniently discounting a couple of thousand Iraqi prisoners, thousands of dead Iraqi military or a 100 to 1 kill ratio, eh? Or the airport secured by the Brits this morning, or the chemical plant secured by US troops? Reports on one of the fake surrender-ploys from an embedded journalist describes Iraqi bodies littering the desert, some literally melted so there was nothing to identify them but a few ribs, but you've apparently discounted the consequences of treachery too.

I'm glad you're not the one in charge. It sounds like you're the one 'fighting' a political war.

Funny thing about this war. Karbala is in the middle of the gap that is supposed to be the "death trap" for the Americans and these Apaches just took out the armor for one of the divisions.

Meanwhile the public face of the Iraqi government are a pair of hack Baathist punks, a FM who is out of the country and of course a bunch of animals dressed in civilian clothes, drive Toyotas and execute PWs.

There are eleven Iraqi Regular Army divisions who literally vanished since Thursday.

Now either they're lying in wait to attack at the right time, or they stood down.

Again, funny thing this war.

Then explain to me why we haven't bombed the Ministry of Defense in Baghdad. We haven't bombed it because we mistakenly think there are Iraqi leaders there negotiating surrender to us. By not bombing their MoD, we allow them to better maintain control of their forces.

In war, we must never negotiate. We can only gain true victory by bringing the enemy to his knees. WWII Admiral Bull Halsey was once asked his plan to win the war in the Pacific. He said, "Kill Japs, kill Japs, and kill more Japs." I like that battle plan.
