The father of a Marine Staff Seargent killed in the war was shown on the news carrying a snapshot of his late son, blaming President Bush for killing his only son.
Call me insensitive, but NO ONE forced his son to enlist, or in this case re-enlist more than once to serve his country. The son is a hero, as far as I'm concerned. The father, though I grieve with him, is a boob!
I dare you to flame me.

Can this be for real?

Whatever. I assume you're a troll, or something less than that.

It's a sad day... Just what the media wants, don't you think? This really makes my blood boil.

Nobody in my family would behave the way the father has, but people grieve in different ways and I can't blame him. Nothing could make losing a son feel "worth it." I could more easily deal with my dad being killed than my kid... Because it is the natural duty of fathers to go out and fight and die to protect their young. I wouldn't want to be held responsible for what I might say if I did lose a son for any reason, so I will absolve this guy of anything he says that would otherwise offend me.
HOWEVER -- The media should not report ANYTHING he says. It's an insult to our troops in the field as well as to the fallen warrior himself. Further it will be an embarassment to this father when in the future he realizes what an honorable, precious son he had and how much his son would have been hurt by the things he said before all the world.

Can this be for real?Nah, you're dreaming...
Honestly, I'm not surprised. Not excusing his behavior, but most people aren't rational when grieving.

Well going by the name I'd assume the dad was part of the 90% crowd in 2000. Odds are he carried his feelings over into the war.

Sometimes character skips a generation.

Just what the media wants, don't you think? - yes the enemy is also at home.

Anyone who wants to make an issue of something said by someone who has just lost one of their kids really doesn't have much else to do.

The mounting casualties are tragic, yes. But the fact remains that Janet Reno has still killed more Americans that Saddam Hussein.
Stay strong.

I saw this also - I cannot begin to understand what is going through his mind at this time, but I am willing to give him a pass until he comes to terms with his son's choices.

I saw that too. I chalked up some of the father's anger to grief and to a less-than complete understanding of the dangers of war. If you enlist, you'd better be prepared to fight and possibly die for your country. The loss of each soldier is sad, but the price for Freedom.

I don't think the media should be pimping this man for his remarks. People say stupid things during grief. This is a volunteer military and no one made him go. The boy was courageous and full of honor.
Why would people flame you? The father will realize his booby-ness later.

He knew the risks!! I don't care how you cut it!! I bet you anything the father is a demoRAT!! I don't remember the liberal media WHORES giving the father of the military man who died on the BLACK HAWK mission any air time to voice his hatred towards the RAPIST!! He was bitter accusing BUBBA of not sending in the necessary back-up to pull their son and the rest of the group out of there! NOPE NOT A PEEP FROM THE LIBERAL MEDIA WHORES...GOD HOW I HATE THEM!!
To: Blue Collar Christian
Maybe he "feels" that his son only joined the military for the "free education".
How sad to use the death of one's own son to make a political statement.

Just as a rule, never take shots at a grieving parent or spouse......
They say stupid things only to regret later.....
Share in their loss, their son was a great patriot......
God Bless our troops!
