Saddam noted that he makes his contracts with the Russian Government. Our international contracts are with Gulf Oil or the such. Saddam mentioned this specifically in a speech a short while back.

Just heard four Republican Guard Divisions around Baghdad.

MSNBC has put up a board with photographs sent to them by families of service members. They ID one of the pictures and then read the message the family sent with it. Nice touch.

Yes, but either that left Russia with a sense of indebtedness to Saddam, or a desire to keep the US out. It just seems Russia might have seen the writing on the wall and decided by joining the coalition they stood a better chance to protect economic interests in a post-Saddam Iraq.
