After watching so many cruise missiles hit the government area in Bhagdad, I wonder why they didn't put up an array of barrage balloons to protect against low flying craft. They worked fairly well in London during WWII to protect the government buildings and Buckingham palace, (excepting a couple of minor hits), and I'd bet since the cruise missiles are flying a contour of the earth flight plan at about 200 ASL, they'd have some trouble negotiating their way around hundreds of cables tethered to balloons at varying altitudes. I'm glad they didn't, but I wonder why they didn't?

Carney posted this late yesterday:
I'm new and had no idea where to put this, so I ill put it here. If I am wrong, please let me know.
Was out and about in San Diego today and came across a protest. About 20 trailer trash, unwashed looking hippies holding signs like, No Blood For Oil, Yada yada. Shouting down America, holding a flag with a red circle and slash through it. Had at least 2 news cameras and 3 photogs there taking shots. I would have loved to take a shot, but....
1 block down, I came upon another group. This group was much larger. Right off the bat, you could tell something was different. This was a group of the "Middle Eastern Types". They were yelling, dancing, laughing, crying. Holding large American flags, and signs proclaiming "We love America", "Iraq+America=Freedom", "GOD BLESS GEORGE BUSH". This group was much larger then the other, and showing their love for America, but no one shooting pictures.
I actually pulled over to talk to them. Turns out that most of them are Iraqi born Chaldean. They fled Sadaam 5, 10, 15 years ago and will love to see him go bye-bye. The are proud to now be American citizens, and would love to be over there fighting for Iraqs freedom if they could.
They all seemed to have wonderful, productive lives here, but look forward to going back to their home and helping install a democracy and watch the Iraqi people show the world what they are made of. They love America, but Iraq is their home and they know what kind of a country they can be when they are allowed too.
I pulled out and went on my way, passing the other protesters and wishing they would leave and the Iraqi's would stay. The Iraqi born friends were by far better Americans then the trash protesting this. I quietly wished for a bulldozer.
