i think they blinded themselves by igniting the oil trenches. Poor people... oil smoke is so stinky and smelly.

MSNBC just showed what looked like a B52 strike in north Iraq.

I'm not sure..it was either Rick Leventhal or Greg that said they were "civvy" hummers with "no armor". The camera did not go dark like lights out (like it did last night when greg was told "lights out") this cam went "vertical color bars" like when you pull the plug.

FReeper, Socratic, post # 2068 rounded up and reported the story of the human shield's wake up to the atrocities Saddam engaged in .... I repeated his post because I thought it was beyond HORRIFIC and hope major stations take a look at Drudge.

Peter Arnatt is saying the strikes are going on to the north and west of the city--prolly RG targets.

BBC News 24 just cut to footage of B-52 engines warming up at RAF Fairford. It's gonna be a long night.......
To: Republic
It's on the UPI wire, so better source than "just Drudge." The media will shun this story, it does not comport with the agenda of making Bush look bad.
To: TigersEye
Tony Snow asks Major Garrett about reports of officials fleeing Baghdad last night. Garrett says that Pentagon has clear signs that command and control is broken. Pentagon is otherwise being very reticent right now about info like this.
Message of bombardments: "The longer you wait to surrender, the higher up you become on the target list."

Well folks,
I'm taking my AR15 down to the shooting range for an hour or so to try out my new scope/butt plate setup. I'll be back as soon as I can hit a dime at 100 yards. See you somewhere around post 3200.

Thinking out loud:
1. We were waiting for them to set the fires
2. The fires were too late
3. It "contains" the Iraqi forces
4. It's propaganda for their people (We did it??)
5. It controls the people much like crowd control.
6. The Iraqis miscalculated our timing, figuring next moonless night.
I wouldn't be surprised if we took a couple days off while we wait for new intelligence. We must have a Sh*tload of spies within Iraq.

I'm coming in at your post, so I don't have any idea of what the discussion is . . .
However, I assumed that the Iraqi was complaining about the "Oil for Food" program by the UN that has been a massive failure. The UN has let the Iraqi's down in a humongous way. It pats itself on the back for it humanitarian work that is actually a big, fat scam.
Did you all see this article? It has an interesting section about a war protester's change of heart.
Lucky Break for Jordan
By Arnaud de Borchgrave
UPI Editor at Large
" . . . A group of American anti-war demonstrators who came to Iraq with Japanese human shield volunteers made it across the border today with 14 hours of uncensored video, all shot without Iraqi government minders present. Kenneth Joseph, a young American pastor with the Assyrian Church of the East, told UPI the trip 'had shocked me back to reality.' Some of the Iraqis he interviewed on camera 'told me they would commit suicide if American bombing didn't start. They were willing to see their homes demolished to gain their freedom from Saddam's bloody tyranny. They convinced me that Saddam was a monster the likes of which the world had not seen since Stalin and Hitler. He and his sons are sick sadists. Their tales of slow torture and killing made me ill, such as people put in a huge shredder for plastic products, feet first so they could hear their screams as bodies got chewed up from foot to head. . . .'"
