This is the continuation Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Day 1- LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Peacenik Loon on BBC saying the Allies should apologize to the Iraqi people when they get in for the million who have died because of the sanctions.

We were talking about when the Day-2 thread was locked. There was no wording that said the link was to Day-3. That's what I was trying to get added in.

Well, I'm sure it's not CNN he turns to when he does want to see TV coverage.

I can see Ari right now:

"Before I take any questions, I'll give you the President's schedule for today:

At 0700 hrs, the President will be watching the Today show while running on his treadmill.

At 0800, he will switch to watching Rikki Lake which he finds quite entertaining.

At 0900, he has a brief meeting with the Condi Rice after which he will switch to MTV. The President often recites Ice-T rap lyrics while dancing in his Presidential recliner.

At 1100 hrs, he will be watching re-runs of "Little House on the Prarie".

1130 is lunch time.

At 1200, he usually watches The Weather Channel for about 10 minutes, hoping to catch "Local on the 8's". His flying schedule on Air Force One depends on good flying weather.

The President will spend a good part of the afternoon in meetings and is scheduled to hold a press conference at 1500 hrs in which he will attempt to pacify an incredibly inept press core.

After his press conference, the President will briefly turn on Fox News as it is the only news source from which he can get unbiased reports. Internal resources have proven inadequate to this point.

At 1600 hrs, the President will be watching Oprah Winfrey. He absolutely loves the way she mixes gentle editorial commentary with sensationalized non-events to create a blistering atmosphere of gentle, leftist blather. He used to watch Neil Cavuto, but doesn't like Neil's big head.

MURDOCH APOLOGIZES TO AMANPOUR FOR 'WAR SLUT' SLUR

Rupert Murdoch has personally apologized to CNN's Christiane Amanpour for a recent column written by NEW YORK POST columnist Andrea Peyser, the NEW YORK OBSERVER is planning to report on Wednesday.

Peyser's Sept. 21 column referred to Amanpour as a "CNN war slut."

Not long afterward the column appeared, Amanpour expressed her feelings in a letter to Murdoch, the OBSERVER's Jason Gay reveals.

Murdoch then faxed Amanpour an apology.

"A source close to News Corp. said that in the letter, Murdoch expressed regret for Peyser's column, but noted that he does not control the writing of Post staffers," report Gay.

The letter also mentioned that Murdoch has been called worse things by CNN founder Ted Turner.

Reached overseas, Amanpour confirmed to The Observer that she had received Murdoch's apology:

"While I would not like to reveal details of my correspondence with Murdoch, I will say I was entirely satisfied with his reaction to the highly inappropriate, vulgar language used by Peyser to describe me."

Amanpour did note, however, that she found Murdoch's line about Turner to be "hilarious."

Others have commented that AA fire has to come down somewhere.

AA is designed to explode at a certain altitude. Remember the puffs of smoke in the WWII movies? What comes down is very small. It is not like when they fire AKs into the air.
