Grizzfan, I hit the Private reply to you, instead of the forum...I hate it when that happens! More, I hate it when the "reverse" happens...grins.
I simply told you to get a DirecTV dish, to get FOX...we did.

I am not supporting bleeding borders or trying to divert the issue. I am trying to get you to tell us what you want us to do!
I responded to 249, it wasn't your post. It offered a picture that was daunting. Which of the pieces of that wall did you want in our world? - the starving attack dogs, the land mines or the guards every twenty yards for our whole long land borders? - I don't think it was written as a road map of what would be practical here. I could protect my yard that way, Berlin could protect a city, but 22,000 miles of it?
The trouble is, you can't decide if illegal Mexicans are your biggest gripe or terrorists. Separate and argue them seperately and you mind win me over. Illegals are a financial, not security, issue.
And the "arrest the president" "blood on his hands" shouting is hysterical and sounds right out of DU. You may have good ideas. But your message is trapped behind words that are distracting. If you think everyone is diverting the issue into "Bush Bashing" and "Racism" perhaps look at your own words to see why.

One of SH's sons said Americans would be crying blood instead of tears. I don't like the sound of this.
There's been a lot of bickering on these posts. Let's try to fix the problem and not the blame. Please. More information is welcome and useful. Let's watch out for each other now.

Illegals are a financial, not security, issue. Herein lies the rub. Each and every dollar spent on illegals could be spent on making us more secure. Not only that, but all the hospitals in SoCal that are currently overcrowded and closing will make it easier to launch a biological attack. Illegals aren't the bullet that will kill us most likely. They are the parasite that will make it more likely that any particular bullet we do get is worse...much worse than it might have been. Just depends on your particular bullet. Any sort of biological attack will be magnified beyond belief in the overcrowded conditions in the colonias on the border. Any sort of biological attack will be difficult to diagnose if most of the hospitals in a particular area have had to close because their only 'customers' were illegals who didn't pay...YMMV

my guess is that the unknown substance is Ricin, which was recently found on an Iraqi in Paris.Actually, SMALLPOX is indicated...Ricin is a plant substance and is stable.
Also, Ricin is rather easily extracted from the castor bean. It is water soluble, and remains behind after the Castor Oil is pressed.
Smallpox, on the other hand, is self replicating.
Does anyone know when Russia stopped vaccinating for Smallpox???

I agree. Non citizens, especially illegals should not be receiving welfare, and we do give them a lot. We should send them home. That ticket I will pay for. But the illegal immigration from Mexico problem is one of an attractive nuisance. As long as there is a rich environment here and a poor one at home they will continue to come. There is no physical barrier to Mexico being a wealthy country. I wish I knew how to fix that. Hungry people will continue to crawl through glass to get here.
As a side note... I don't see biological attacks hitting these colonias first, I think the bad guys have higher ambitions than that.

Illegals are a financial, not security, issue. Actually it's not just illegals. Our lack of any kind of security along the border could involve illegals, they know the easy quick ways into the country where no one is checking what they bring over. It is also just as much the legals ---those who are given the electronic swipe cards that makes entering the US as easy and quick as it is to enter a typical parking lot. Legals are rarely checked coming over the border ---in times of high security less then one out of ten (about 6%) of trucks get checked and less automobiles.
Much of the border traffic is completely frivolous ---people coming over to bring their kids to school in the US so they don't have to pay books and supplies like they would in Mexico, people wanting to work in the US but live in Mexico where they pay no property taxes so they get to keep more of their wages than they would if they lived here, people wanting to come over and shop for a couple hours. Nothing has been done to discourage the frivolous border traffic and many of those entry places of the illegals are widely known.

The bad guys won't hit colonias. Once a bug is out of the bag it'll hit everywhere. The areas with the least sanitation and most overcrowding will get hit the worst. No question about it. This will make it more difficult to fight.
The question is...why aren't we sending them home, and why are we continuing to pay for them here? Lots of us would like to know the answer to that question. If there were no incentive to Mexicans to come here, any people traffic from Mexico would be easier to stop and more likely to be with bad intent. Either drug traffickers or terrorists. When 10K people/day arrive it's difficult to determine the needle from the haystack. If only 100 people/day arrived, the likelihood that one of them would be a bad guy would increase exponentially.
Why do you think there has been little effort to a. send them home and b. stop their getting welfare/foodstamps/etc here? Inquiring minds/etc...
To: Black Agnes
I think if biologicals or other dangerous materials are brought over, they won't even end up along the border. They can easily use the same routes as the drug cartels do for cocaine delivery, actually most cocaine ends up far from the border --once they have it over the border, it can be anywhere within hours.

Right you are. The drug gangs have a wide reach. My little NJ town has been overrun with them.
Even the evil druglords would help us catch these pukes. They might take their money to get them in here but then they would turn around and do them in just as readilly. They don't need bio-weapons wiping out a bunch of their customers.
As to immigration. We will never stop the folks from down South from coming to America. We also do not want to. If we wanted to we would try harder. It's like cancer. I don't think doctors consciously fail to cure cancer because they make so much money form it. But the billions of dollars made on cancer ... keep cancer around.
Illegal immigration keeps our population from taking a nose dive. For the same reason that the Europeans are turning their land into Eurabia ... we will continue to import southern labor. It's not so much for the cheap workers. Not at all really. It's for the population. Without growth (both in GNP AND babies) a socialist economy will self destruct quite rapidly.

If there were no incentive to Mexicans to come here, any people traffic from Mexico would be easier to stop Their incentive to come is certainly not just the few hundred bucks a month in food stamps they find when they get there.
The incentive to come is that even when they do end up on welfare, that is 3 orders of magnitude better than they get at home. The incentive is our wealth and our better living. The solution to people wanting to be here is not higher walls and attack dogs. The problem simply will not go away until Mexico enters the 20th century.
Well, I need to give up on this subject for awhile. Prayers that our guys catch this known threat at least.... The guys we were lookin' for at the start of the thread.

Even the evil druglords would help us catch these pukes.I think you hold those guys in a much better light than you should. There isn't much evidence that illegals are helping our economy much either when you notice how poorly the stock market is doing and all the lay-offs. Also California and Texas are facing very steep state budget deficits. I'd actually like to know what part of the country is still doing well-----and I'd bet it's not where you'd find the highest concentration of immigrants from Mexico.

I think some drug lords might turn the Iraqis in ---some might even take their money and then execute them ---but drug lords can't be trusted, they have zero ethics.

Don't overreact yet. These terrorists might be in Mexico, and Mexico might act as buffer to our judicial system with so many rights for terrorists. If some lethal virus or bacteria is released in Mexico the border won't buffer squat.
