an interesting possibility. i looked more closely at the saddam video this evening, and the guy was breathing too slowly -- either drugged to the gills or terribly wounded or both. this would make it more likely that others decide to freelance.

and if i'm right, who knows? we may soon being chanting a little ditty: saddam had 'em.

Agree. I noticed that he looked hurt. Maybe physically, or perhaps he'd sustained a heavy psychological blow, like death of a son. Then I wondered whether it was Saddam at all, as he looked quite different from the Saddam that Rather interviewed. Rather looked very doubtful about that video too, muttering..."if it is Saddam." Whoever the guy was, he seemed quite stiff in the chest region, perhaps wound with bandages under that jacket?

Surrender would be wonderful, but who will do the surrendering? And on what terms? I hope we hear more on this soon.

Me too. I'm less convinced today than I was last night that it is Saddam.

Did you catch the coke bottle glasses? What was that all about? The message was so obviously recorded, Saddam or not. The guy did look like death warmed over sitting there now that I think about it!
