High-tech analysis of the video recently released by Iraq has allowed me to conclusively identify the body-double portraying Saddam Hussein:

I don't know whether they got him or not but it seems to me from the video that Saddam has either: 1) aged an awful lot; or 2) was substituted for by someone's 88-year old aunt wearing a discarded beret from the 1930s.

I think it was Helen Thomas... though the content of the statement sounded too reasonable and even-handed to be coming from her.
