My American friendsAs a citizen of Germany I express you and your servicemen my solidarity.
War is always the worst alternative - but sometimes, so in this case, the only one! Keeping that in mind, the United Nations failed once again to fight the enemies of mankind and freedom.
The President of the United States of America has ordered the coalition forces to fight Saddam Hussein and his evil regime. This war will cause a high loss of lives, not only on the Iraqi side, but even between the rows of the coalition.
Let me promise you that millions of Germans will mourn every soldier coming home in a flag-covered coffin. Your soldiers deserve our respect, our gratitude. Our conservative opposition, far leading in polls, also declared solidarity with America and supports that war. So far there´s hope for re-establishing the good relations between our two nations once the CDU is back in power.
I want to thank you for being strong enough to do what´s right and what must be done.
God bless you and God bless the free world!
Michael Düsseldorf, Germany

They haven't started receiving fire yet. That's when they reach for the sky and start waving hankies.

Video just doesn't compress enough for dial-up. If only DSL were more-widely-available (and cheaper),....
Glad I have cable, though

So much for Iraqi units on the border wanting to surrender....they seem to want a fight. Looks like we're going to be fighting a lot more than the analysts predicted. The ground war hasn't even started yet, the air war hasn't reached full scale stages (nowhere near that) and already we have Scuds hitting Kuwait, mortar and heavy artillery exchanges and probably a bunch of other things that we haven't a clue about.
Oh boy.

That white flag has probably been flying for days. They're just waiting for someone to notice.
Major Garret reporting a "search is underway for the Scud launchers".
Deja vu.

Tex, thanks for the posts last night, had to log off early.(Darling daughter spilled on my keyboard)
Got alot of catch up, other thread tooooo long to bother trying.
One thing I heard this am is that some are questioning if that was really Saddam on tape..the large glassed have not been seen on him before. Made his beady eyes look HUGE! Maybe one of his doubles, maybe a tape.

I think all the networks had that same static cam, it's hosted by Reuters and I think you can get it on their site...somehow.
Sky News still have a crew inside Baghdad so you'll see some unique (and better) stuff on their live feed.

Go back to 243 ....someone posted a link to Sky news in england....I am listening live.
