They first reported they were quoting Iraqi TV. Next update did not reference a source. Praying it is a rumor.

Sky News has been reporting this .. BUT they are making it a point to say this is from Iraqi TV and HAS NOT been confirmed from out side yet

The more favorably we treat the civilians, the easier it will be to establish a gov't later, no?

Not only that, people in other countries will tend to view our actions favorably, i.e. "good press." Domestically, it makes the peacniks and DEMs look like bed-wetters, and globally, it may give heart to the subjects of other oppressive regimes.

All this makes me wonder what the people in Iraq know about what has been... and will be ocurring.

Imagine that you are living a country that gets NO news from the outside. You don't know about much of anything that is going on...other than every few years a cadre of people show up in their sky blue hats, and drive around to various sites in their white vehicles with a U.N. symbol on the side.

And then.......kaboooooom! Your city/country is being bombed.

Or perhaps there is more information filtering in then I am aware of....and the Iraqi people really are waiting for us?
