That's the ULTIMATE form of PsyOps. A less than subtle way of us telling them that "we know where you're hiding and you can't do a damn thing about it!"

Most of those poor Iraqi soldiers just want a meal and no snipers behind them.

"This will not be a campaign of half measures."

Ah the phenomenal impact when the mighty understate. The liberation of a long suffering people is nigh. May God limit uneeded suffering on the short road to inevitable victory. God bless the President, Iraq, and America.

I loved his quote yesterday - We took every measure to avoid war and now we will take every measure to win it.
I guess that implies nukes. Peace through strength, God love ya' President Reagan.

They've been trying to surrender for the last two weeks. 17 more just did today. They were turned over to Kuwaiti police.

Here's the impression I'm getting. Tell me if you agree.

The war wasn't scheduled for this time. They got a good bead on some "target of opportunity" and went after it. According to Brit Hume, networks understood nothing was to break tonight. Someone said WH staff didn't expect the president to speak tonight.

Sounds to me like this is a spontaneous raid. I wonder if that will change their timetable.

Shep Smith was just saying they had to have spotted something. Maybe Saddam went into a mosque to pray at dawn. And he went right to his judgement.

Yeah, let's hope Saddam is fruitlessly seeking his 71 virgins as we speak!

The media is all wacked out! LOL

This thing has been mostly psy ops. We are not going to blast Bagdad. We are probably moving to Basra and Tukrit. We are going to secure everthing around Bagdad and isolate it. We will then take out targets of opportunity and anti-air batteries, while we strangle the guard forces and take them out a bit at a time.

We do not want to destroy the civilian infrastructure or residences, and we do not have to.

I see this over in 6-10 days.

To: MomwithHope; All
Dear Lord,
There's a young man far from home,
called to serve his nation in time of war;
sent to defend our freedom
on some distant foreign shore.

We pray You keep him safe,
we pray You keep him strong,
we pray You send him safely home ...
for he's been away so long.

There's a young woman far from home,
serving her nation with pride.
Her step is strong, her step is sure,
there is courage in every stride.

We pray You keep her safe,
we pray You keep her strong,
we pray You send her safely home ...
for she's been away too long.

Bless those who await their safe return.
Bless those who mourn the lost.
Bless those who serve this country well,
no matter what the cost.

God, Bless America!

I copied this from tomkow6 in the FReeper USO Canteen. I don't think he'd mind.

"target of opportunity" is a fantastic thing to hear- but with a cruise misile? Are they that good? Fox now emphasizing "a gathering of senior military officials."

Imagine- Bush goes live during the Oscars or which ever idiot parade is coming up and announces "Hussein is dead and Osama is behind bars."

That would take some steam out of their "innocent deaths" mantra.

But agree completely- this was spontaneous. Very promising.

This wasn't suppose to be the start of the war but intelligence sources spotted the Iraqi leadership and it was worth a chance to take them out.

with a cruise misile?

It's my understanding that these were delivered by plane. One of those TV generals said some young pilot was probably cruising along when he was suddenly ordered to "turn left, there'll be escorts to cover you".

I'm a 33-year-old total failure in his personal and professional life with no hope for the future. If there is a God, He is apparantly an cruel, vengeful God who plays favorites and takes pleasure in randomly choosing people to be forces into lives of emptyness and ostracism against their will. Oh, THANK YOU SO MUCH, Jesus, for all the love I see you giving EVERYONE ELSE.

You kidding with this right?
