I love watching when the President walks up to board the helo and shows proper respect to the enlisted Marine by smartly acknowledging the salute. The exchange of salutes goes both ways, and woe betide an Officer or Enlisted that disrespects the exchange.
Had I been that Marine during the clinton years, I would have waited till I got my DD214, then kicked his pathetic butt. Come to think of it, I did get my 214 some 40+ years ago. Can I still kick his pathetic butt?

Prayers on the way, Leatherneck!
Dittos for your fine essay and summary of a great president and the wonderful, blessed contrasts with a terrible president.

Thank you for your post. Brought tears to these aging eyes.
Respect is earned. It is the natural response to character. Duty is the gift a soldier gives to his country. Honor is the blessing a soldier's country gives to him/her. God bless our honorable brave Military personnel and our respected Commander-in-chief.

Congressman JC Watts (R. Oklahoma) said, "Character is doing the right thing when nobody is looking" No, he didn't. Quoteland.com has:
"Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking."
-H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
And of course Dr. Lazardo (John Lithgow) in Buckaroo Bonzai said something similar in a bad italian accent.
