[history]
Jody Mason of Olympia is locked to the Washington State Grange office building Tuesday to protest war. He intended to chain himself to a federal Department of Energy office building, but discovered he was at the wrong location.
OLYMPIA -- A man spent hours chained to the wrong building Tuesday in an ill-planned effort to protest war with Iraq, police said. Jody Mason padlocked himself to an entrance of the Washington State Grange building at 924 Capitol Way S., thinking it was a sub-office of the U.S. Department of Energy.

Thanks!
Instead of cutting him loose, they should have used their own hand cuffs and leg restraints. Then left him there for the duration.

I wonder if the police would have let him go if he had been chained to an abortion clinic?

Police officers used heavy-duty bolt cutters to free Mason. "He asked for help because he didn't have the key," Olympia police Cmdr. Steve Nelson said. This was their mistake. They should be letting these numbskulls get themselves out of their own messes.

I wonder if the police would have let him go if he had been chained to an abortion clinic? Only if he had chained himself to a Chiropractor's clinic by mistake...

Boy, that idiot protester sure looks a lot like the actor Chris Eliot. Except that the actor tended to play characters with a bit more intelligence.

Olympia seems to produce some real winners lately. First the bulldozer-sitter flag-burning twit who got flattened, now this...something in the water?

After the HAHAHA, seriously, why wasn't he charged. He caused disruption, diverted the police, etc. He should be charged and fined. When the Feds rescue hikers and climbers in the parks, they now bill them for the rescue. These people are innocent, except they didn't plan well. Why let some idiot who actually planned to cause trouble get off scott free?

"Mason, who identified himself to a photographer... " He didn't have his camera, apparently, either. What a nutcase.
