If they simply said how the world viewed us, I would not have a problem. However, it went further than what you describe. Oprah and her guests said that we must respond....we must cave to this opinion and acknowledge that their perception is right. Sorry, that isn't going to happen.
Oprah joined the blame America first crowd today.

I went to the Michael Moore (gag) website (gag) and tried to get on a message board there. Here is what is posted...."The Michael Moore Forum will be down for technical reasons until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Hmmmmm...not taking criticism himself, huh? Typical. Pathetic. Vomitous. (if that's a word....sounds good describing him) He makes me gag. Does he ever change those nasty clothes & hat??? Soap. These people need soap.

Her is a lady that is a billionaire and will scream to the top of her lungs about racism after the backlash that she is going to receive for her stupid comments. Then she is going to run to the 1st Amendment. Well she has the right to make a fool of herself. The Liberals don't understand the concept of accountability and responsibility
See Bill Clintoon

Perhaps Oprah doesn't realize that, as George Will and the Washington Post recently reported, that during the first Gulf War approximately 1,000-5,000 civilians died. Since the cease fire, containment has killed 2,500 - 5,000 civilians PER MONTH! Two-thirds of those are children under five years of age. May the liberation of Iraq begin and children be allowed to grow to adulthood in Iraq, due entirely to the efforts of the US, British, and the rest of the coalition of the willing.

What I wrote:
I am so ashamed of you, Oprah, that on the eve of war you choose to allow Michael Moore, a no-talent, venemous person, spew forth his hateful drivel on your show. Both you and he should get down and kiss the boots of every US military person you are undermining. They are the ones who are in harm's way and protecting the country that is a beacon to the world and who has saved the world before from Nazism and communism. Now, we have the guts and the ability to face down terrorism, something that your idol, shall-we-take-a-poll Clinton, never had the fortitude to do. God bless President Bush, a true Commander-in-chief, who sees the threat and deals with it.
You are despicable. Take your billions and retire, for the good of the country.

I remember at the very least the guests saying that.
Oprah didn't say anything like "We are just going to study their views; it doesn't make them right." The guests were chosen because they BELIEVE the perceptions....especially the professor studying the middle east, an Arab himself (what a surprise...)

With all due respect, I don't think Americans are putting their heads in the sand. I think we are fed up with anti-Americanism from the liberal Hollywood and other ungreatful nations as well.
9/11 happened and we felt that this was just the last straw and when we see our allies stabbing us in the back for a murdering dictator then I don't think it is such a bad thing to vent our anger and frustration. Boycotting french products is not only good for our moral but it shows the french that we will not be forgetting their anti-Americanism any time soon. I do agree that we should be aware of our standing in the world with other countries but that doesn't mean watching the Oprah Show who is telling us how we brought 9/11 on ourselves and how awful this country is.
I don't know what it is but I have a feeling that Americans are putting ourselves first above everybody else and that's not such a bad thing!

I have no problem with boycotting France. I am doing the same in my home. I am very grateful to be born an American.
But to get in a huffy over a show that you didn't see, and write letters on a completely inaccurate report, is foolish.
Oprah presented a show about why we need to go to Iraq, and everyone cheered. Oprah presented a show on How the Morons of the world see us, and everyone wants her hanged.
You can't live in a bubble. We are the greatest country, but not everyone sees us that way, even though they want our money and foreign aid.

Your missing the point....let people get huffy and let people vent. If someone saw this Oprah Show differently than you did then just let it be.
We are just hours away from war now and people are getting nervous and jumpy, especially those who have put their trust in President Bush. I have total faith in him and our troops like I am sure you have.
We are among friends and thank God for friends like Freepers!
