It seems to me that between ChIraq's message and Blixie's message today, they are both trying to broadcast advice to Saddam to hold off using his chems and bio's. Telling him in non-words that using them would justify the position Bush and Blair have had all along.
Weasles and skunks to the end.

France said Tuesday it could help a U.S.-led military coalition if Iraq used biological or chemical weapons <HEAVY FRENCH ACCENT>But of course, we are opposed to capital punishment, so we would not actually fight or kill people.

I wounder how flat the French embassy in Bagdad will be in a couple of days?
To: hotpotato
Next they will redefine "chemical weapons" to mean "weapons that contain chemicals"... like bullets, and stuff.

France could aid the coalition by fighting on Iraq's side.

This rings hollow. If France actually believes that Iraq has no weapons of mass destruction it is nothing but an empty PR ploy. However, if France knows they have them it will beg an explanation of their recent Security Council antics.
To: hotpotato
It is dangerous to engage unilaterally these days...Hey France, since you have not noticed we have some 45 nations with us. The last time I looked that was not a unilateral action.

Can they possibly imagine that anyone believes this?
* We don't support any action because there are no WMDs.
* But AFTER you get clobbered by one,
THEN we'll come to your aid,
on a contaminated battlefield.
Another Daschle moment.
Keep talking France, so that no one forgets.

Something tells me that France will magically "guess" the right counter-toxins and protective gear to employ.

I say let them help. I for one would like to see a lovely French maid (in traditional uniform of course) serving our GI's some croissants for breakfast.
To: hotpotato
Sorry, Jacques, we already filled your spot in the coalition with El Salvador. We'll get more out of them anyway.

"In the event that American forces or those allied to them should face a new situation such as a chemical or biological attack, France would assess the measures of assistance to take in a spirit of friendship and solidarity." Notice that he didn't say which side the French would assist.
We can only hope that they help the Iraqis. The French expertise in surrendering could be invaluable.
