I think that line is destined to replace, "Speak softly but carry a big stick."

Mark Steyn is quickly leaving the rest of the Punditocracy in his wake. His intelligence, his clarity, and his devastating wit are simply too much for the competition -- or for anyone whose worldview requires any degree of self-deception. We are truly blessed to have him writing in our time.

We are truly blessed to have him writing in our time. I completely agree. I regularly send his columns out to friends and family, always with the subject line: "Another Steyn classic." There is no one else out there even remotely close to him.

Mark left out one word to really wrap this up for Dowdy Dowd!
"The New York Times' elderly schoolgirl communist columnist Maureen Dowd"

Ever since Frank Sinatra died in 1998 and Don Rumsfeld came into office as George W. Bush' Sec. Of Defense in 2000,
I've wondered if anyone could fill in Frank Sinatra role as a take charge and hold-no quarter type of human,
and I believe we finally have: "It's Don Rumsfelds world and we just live in it". LOL

After 8 years of a historically successful GWB administration, Condy Rice is nominated as the Republican candidate for president. She presses Rummy into loyal service once again as Secretary of State/Vice President/whatever. We can only dream...

Rumsfield is an old hero! We needed him. We also needed to see that Condi Rice was a strong American, and she is.
She does not waiver. Now, Colin Powell is another story.

I love Rummy -- and he's a sexy old coot on top of everything else --
To: over3Owithabrain
Yeah, but he doesn't know what to do with it.
To: knighthawk
Alas, last week Rummy's ruminations on rummy nationsHis wit and his skill remind me of Jonathan Swift...I stand in awe!
To: knighthawk
For Steyn to praise someone's use of words is like conveying a Pulitzer or Oscar to that person.
I especially liked the way South Koreans took to the streets to show they did not agree with the antiAmerican agitators after Rummy spoke. I especially did NOT like the way our mass media declined to share this new reality with their audiences.

Britain is ... not necessary ... it [Was] ..reasonable if Rumsfeld, with a couple hundred thousand [American Men] kicking their heels in the sand for six months, felt that
America was being perhaps too deferential to [Blair's] ... domestic difficulties [And] ...
Britain's helpfulness [Had ceased] to be helpful ... when Baroness Amos, Britain's Minister for Africa, [Was] chasing M. de Villepin around the dark continent because
Guinea's presidential witchdoctor [Was] advising [Ms Amos] against war (really), it's hard not to feel that, even by diplomatic standards, the whole thing has become too unmoored from reality.
Rumsfeld's function [Is] to ..... not be happy at the sight of the Guinean tail wagging the French rectum of the British [Arse end] of the AMERICAN DOG.
I love Mark Steyn!
Invade, conquer and liberate Canada and make him an American!

Colin Powell has been a new man after he realized that the French and the Germans lied to him and blatantly manipulated him.
Rummy was always been somewhat more realistic about "Old Europe".
