Daschle Supported Regime Change in 1998 - Vanity
Daschle's Own Lying Words | March 18, 2003 | Peach

Posted on 03/18/2003 6:30:19 AM PST by Peach

In 1998, Clinton passed the Iraqi Liberation Act which called for regime change, but decided to bomb Serbia instead. Daschle supported that resolution by saying the following:Read what Daschle had to say about Saddam and his weapons back when Bill Clinton was president:

"Look, we have exhausted virtually our diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and with international law. Given that, what other option is there but to force them to do so? ... The answer is, we don't have another option. We have got to force them to comply, and we are doing so militarily."

And what is Daschle saying now? Now that we have a Republican in the White House who is finally going to do what Clinton should have done ten years ago? Daschle says that he’s “.. saddened that this president failed so miserably at diplomacy that we’re now forced to go to war.” Wow, that’s quite a switch from his Clinton era pronouncements, isn’t it?

Daschle goes even further. He is getting on the bandwagon early to lay the blame squarely at the feet of George Bush for any fatalities American troops may suffer. Daschle doesn’t blame Hussein for failing to live up to his agreement to disarm. He blames Bush for responding to Hussein’s failures and threats.

My email:

What has changed since then and now besides your Minority status and desire to be President? You are a lying, duplicitous hypocrite, not worthy of the Senate, let alone the Presidency.

Fox just reported Ari Fleischer's comments condemning Daschle's comments, but they didn't go far enough in terms of reminding Daschle what he said in '98. Anyone have Fleischer's e-mail? I'm e-mailing Fox News (I have about 6 addresses for them), CNN, Rush, editorials to my local papers. This too, will not be allowed to stand unchallenged.

The RNC needs to do a better job at defending itself and let's hold their feet to the fire to be sure they do it - and on national television. Humiliate Daschle.

Excellent and interesting link. As anniegetyourgun said "we'd all be speaking German now", etc. It generally stops people talking about the $$'s.

Have e-mailed Daschle, Fox, CNN, Drudge. Figure it's a waste of time at the alphabet networks but perhaps others feel otherwise. Any additional suggestions?

SD's only congressman, its former governor, and a former and future candidate for Senate (he actually bears some responsibility for Daschle's win in 1986). I support Thune instead, but I have no idea what his law firm email address is.
