It never ceases to amaze me how some people only tolerate freedom of speech when it's their speech which is free.

Okay that's a link where an idea "gains steam". No show me the link that says that they have actually implemented it.

Slander and libel are not protected speech.

I think she knew what she was doing...

To Olympia from Rafah
by Rachel 3:51pm Sat Feb 8 '03

"You just can't imagine it unless you see it-- and even then you are always well aware that your experience of it is not at all the reality: what with the difficulties the Israeli Army would face of they shot an unarmed US citizen, and with the fact that I have money to buy water when the army destroys wells, and the fact, of course, that I have the option of leaving. Nobody in my family has been shot, driving in their car, by a rocket launcher from a tower at the end of a major street in my hometown."

"Today as I walked on top of the rubble where homes once stood Egyptian soldiers called to me from the other side of the border: "Go! Go!" because a tank was coming. And then waving and "what's your name?". Something disturbing about this friendly curiosity. It reminded me of how much, to some degree, we are all kids curious about other kids. Egyptian kids shouting at strange women wandering into the path of tanks. Palestinian kids shot from the tanks when they peak out from behind walls to see what's going on. International kids standing in front of tanks with banners. Israeli kids in the tanks anonymously-- occasionally shouting-- and also occasionally waving-- many forced to be here, many just aggressive-- shooting into the houses as we wander away."

What do you mean? You think it's okay to go around saying things like that about people? With free speech, there comes accountability, which includes common courtesy, decency, and respect.

And if you still think it's okay, I suggest you go read the rules of this forum again. If you disagree, then like other FReepers have stated to others ... go start your own forum.

This is Jim Robinson's forum and HIS rules. I appreciate that the Admin Moderators do their best to uphold them, too. (Even the time they nuked one of MY comments)

In North Korea, the closest award/medal I could find is "MERITED TRUCK DRIVER".

So I suppose the IDF should give out the "Merited Bulldozer Driver"?

"a certain rightful satisfaction when radical leftists enabling a culture and philosophy of death are brought face to face with the consequences thereof.

Please educate me, oh great Inner Circle One, how standing in front of a bulldozer to protect someone's home is representative of "a culture and philosophy of death.

Free people judge others by their actions. Punks judge people by their associations. Most people can't handle freedom. It's too hard.

Dittos and Bump on that! Why has it become so difficult (for some) to choose wisely?

I can see a parallel with what these people think they are trying to accomplish, but there has to be more on your side than a religeon that was made up by a self serving madman that won over his followers by fear of death. I mean, hell, look what happens to stupid people who throw rocks at people with guns. What do you think is gonna happen when you jump in from of a bulldozer and expect it to stop for you?!!?

"Human Shield" is an oxymoron and incompatible with sustaining your life. If you choose to be one, you must live, or die, with the concequences.

Protecting the home of a Palestinian terrorist is absolutely participating in the philosophy of death that outfits like Hamas promote.

People are free to do anything they want as long as they are prepared to live with the physical, mental, or emotional consequences.

The left will definatly spin on this one. They would be derilect if they didnt. Just be glad the U.S. military was no where around. It would have been a treasure trove of propaganda. We can only hope there are no more innocent (yet stupid and misguided) lives lost like this.

ATTENTION ! ! !

All HUMAN SHIELDS

But you have a good heart. Jesus knows. Stay that way.

I've seen several faces of death up close. Like accidents, murder and the slow, horrid death of a young child from cancer. I've yet to see a face I liked much. The peaceful death of someone that lived a long and happy life maybe. Or the end of someone that took another life.

The death of this stupid girl gives me no joy. It brings no jokes to mind. After seeing someone young fight for her life to her last dying breath this senseless death is just pitiful. A stupid waste.

The ME has had too many senseless deaths. Caused by senseless and empty people like Arafat and his ilk that don't know what value life has. Because the are evil. I would not celebrate Arafat's death but I would not mourn it either. He should have met the devil years ago. If he had maybe this dumb kid would be alive today?

Please cite information indicating Dr. Samir Masri was a terrorist.

Aren't you participating in a presumption of guilt by association? Or is that only a matter of concern when it's practiced by 'the-other-side'.

The dialectical materialism has been pretty thick on FR lately. That's a socialist ideology btw. [<<<<< clue]

So I suppose the IDF should give out the "Merited Bulldozer Driver"?

Not likely. Awards and decorations, other than campaign ribbons, are quite uncommon in the IDF. Much more likely, that driver will find others giving him an advance pposition in line, an extra or chilled bottle of orange juice when available, and such other day-to-day amenities that let him know of the approval of his fellows.

Awards and decorations carried considerable prestige in the IDF simply because so few were given. Scarcely 1,000 had been awarded from the War of Independence through the Lebanon invasion of 1982. Under a revised system of military decorations instituted in 1973, all soldiers decorated since 1948 received one of three medals that would be used subsequently to honor those who acquitted themselves in an outstanding manner while serving in the IDF. Each medal was accompanied by a ribbon worn above the left breast pocket. The least prestigious, Etour HaMofet, awarded for exemplary conduct, was accompanied by a blue ribbon. Etour HaOz, awarded for bravery, was accompanied by a red ribbon. The highest medal, Etour HaGevora, awarded for heroism, had been presented to fewer than thirty IDF soldiers as of 1988. Its color was yellow in commemoration of those Jews who had committed acts of heroism while forced to wear the yellow Star of David during the Nazi era and during the Middle Ages.

Reminds me of the drugged out renta mobber decades ago who threw his body in front of a train leaving the Naval Weapons Center in N. Cali.

CONCORD, CA. I was there with my Frigate, the USS O'CALLAHAN (FF-1051) to load up on bullets. It had just happened I thinks the week before. The protesters were STILL THERE, doing their bit to show that the evil United States didn't appreciate the circumstances of the misunderstood Union of Soviet Socialists Republic. They now stood clearly distanced from the railroad tracks, mind you, but they were still there..

Perhaps a Pago Pago ping?

I wonder if the bulldozer driver heard raging hoards of his ancestral Huns in his head?

A more likely possibility is that the IDF soldier, if he heard anything raging in his head, heard the screams and envisaged the carnage visited upon his friends, family and neighbors over the past couple of weeks by the homicide-bombers, who enjoy a renewed passion --compliments of so-called human shields-- to pursue their incessant mission of genocide.

A few things I've learned in my life.

1. It hurts when you put your hand on that hot stove eye.
2. It's not a good idea to race a train to the crossing.
3. Don't get between the bulldozer and the building.
