Mystery Illness Thread (press Conference @ 1pm est.)
15 March 2003 | KickRightRudder

Posted on 03/15/2003 9:42:08 AM PST by KickRightRudder

MSNBC reports mystery illness in Asia-kills every one infected so far. Hundreds more infected. Airlner to Toronto with infected man has been quarentined-- all passengers.

CDC is "EXTREMELY concerned". If these hundreds who are infected die in the next couple of days, we might have the beginnings of a panic. After sophisticated test doctors don't know what it is. Like flu or Pnemonia symptoms, except everybody dies. Press conference at 1pm.

" Paleocon, whatever it was meant to convey, has become a codeword for people with neo-nazi leanings."

That's a typical far left liberal "talking-point" used to demonize staunch conservatives.

" a chill went up my spine"
Yep, the other shoe seems to have dropped. I'd feel better if they were speaking about quarantines and shutting down the airlines and borders but I guess we will have to wait until next week for that.

Meanwhile, I read that Clinton lost the nuke codes when the Lewinsky story hit the fan. Comforting to know as we are about to launch into war and be beseiged with a lethal atypical pneumonia.

If anyone is using paleo-con as a code word for skinheads and neo-nazis it is the neo-conservatives.

No. It is the nazis themselves. You can verify this for yourslef by looking at any neo-nazi (Stormfront) board or any board not admitting to the neo-nazi label (such as LibertyForum) but still hosting mostly neo-nazis. Perhaps the most well-known instance is a fellow calling himslf "paleocon-avatar" (Paul Fallavollita). He's a shining light on Polinco, LF, Natvan, Vanguard and so on. Here's a short blurp about him from his school:

Paleocon Avatar

Look around and you can see the term has been hijacked. And going to another forum, which I'm not going to drop the name of here, you'll find that the forum is:

- Regarding itself as "paleocon".
- Regarding any conservatives as "neocon".
- Strongly white supremacist.

The amusing thing, however, is that all these "white supremacists" are talking openly with each other on the board. Which is controlled by one of them - they think. In reality, the owner is a New Black Panther, and one of the most militant ones. I've had a few laughs over that one :)).

"The impact on the economy would be as devastating as the disease itself were it to come to pass."

Look on the bright side...lower unemployment.

You wouldn't by any chance be an old black woman living in an old, wood cabin sitting in the middle of a corn field, would you?

I'm movin' to VEGAS!! Waa-hoo!

Off topic but so what.

You may be right about the term neo-con being hijacked. If so, I am unaware of it. I am at a loss to understand why anyone who is a neo-nazi or one of the subsets of that group would want to disguise their true indentity when conversing with friends in the world of 1's and 0's.

As to your allegation that Liberty Forum denys the "neo-nazi label" that is accurate as well. However, LF is not a neo-nazi forum. It's managers simply do not ban people because of their views no matter how repugnant they might be.

Failure to censor does not equal agreement. The neo-nazis used to march in Skokie Illinois, a heavily Jewish suburb of Chicago. Care to draw a conclusion from that fact?

Regards

J.R.

Yeah, it spooked me too. It made me think of the Black Death and how many people were killed. It has been a long time since the world has seen something like the plague, we should be about due for some new horrible calamity.

It's managers simply do not ban people because of their views no matter how repugnant they might be.

There's a bit more to it than that.

1. In the early days, when the forum was invitation only, most of the invitions went to clearly nazist posters. This is very easily verified. It is also very easily verified that the folks doing most of the inviting are a couple of islamists in the US, at least one of which has a criminal record, and a couple of Canadians - one of which is an American immigrant with close ties to Ernst Zundel.

2. Old stats I had said that roughly half of the total number of posts on the board were from this handful of people. Newer stats is even more skewed toward the neo-nazi contingent - in fact the overwhelming number of people registered there have never posted a single post, and probably ran as far and fast as they could when they saw what the place was.

3. The neo-nazis prevalent on LF are people who even manage to get themselves booted from places like Stormfront. The Stormfront owner may be a scumbag, but at least he's bright enough to realize the dangers and responsibilities of hosting people calling for the killing of the US president, for example. Not so with "John Deere" :)).

Care to draw a conclusion from that fact?

Yes. That the inhabitants of Skokie have altogether too few shotguns and too few loads of rock-salt.

Normally, I don't panic about such things, but this has got me worried. Ebola is nasty, but it isn't air-borne and it burns out quickly. The fear of a high mortality disease that is contageious might now be realized with this stuff.
This is series! (and serious too!). Okay; now my wimpy, tin-foil hat question: will a biological mask stop viruses and how long are they good for? (in case people start dropping like flies in my State). I'll be right back; I'm heading over to e-bay to look for something,...
