MSNBC reports mystery illness in Asia-kills every one infected so far. Hundreds more infected. Airlner to Toronto with infected man has been quarentined-- all passengers.
CDC is "EXTREMELY concerned". If these hundreds who are infected die in the next couple of days, we might have the beginnings of a panic. After sophisticated test doctors don't know what it is. Like flu or Pnemonia symptoms, except everybody dies. Press conference at 1pm.

Paleocon is a rather recently coined Paleocon, whatever it was meant to convey, has become a codeword for people with neo-nazi leanings. It has taken on the same meaning as "88" and "14 words" in neo-nazi symbology, and the ones using it to describe themselves are by now mostly perfectly aware of that. They wrap themselves in the "paleocon" banner because a swastika would be to obvious, too odious and too negatively charged.

"I don't have cable!"
You wouldn't by any chance be an old black woman living in an old, wood cabin sitting in the middle of a corn field, would you?

Have they still not aired the press conference? Is it supposed to be on anywhere but MSNBC? We don't get it.

The CDC had the press conference, MSNBC didn't air it, just some comments after it was over. Basically, said just what's already on this thread. I wish there were more information.

That is a very significant piece of news, how unusual for the NY Times. This clearly has the forensics community in an uproar. A pandemic version of the flu has been discussed for years. Let me see now, at a 40% infection rate that would be roughly 2.5 billion infections and at a 2.5% mortality rate, that would be 6.25 million deaths. Time to invest in flowers, caskets, and mortuaries (tongue in cheek). Hospitals couldn't handle this load under any circumstances that I can imagine. The impact on the economy would be as devastating as the disease itself were it to come to pass.

Thanks.

"Actually, paleocon is a recently coined self description invented by people who realize that publicly praising the virtue of the Nazi system in this day and age is bad PR, and who want to maintain the veneer of public respectability."Just like a liberal to start calling conservatives "Nazis". That was too easy.

Is this a virus...why are they saying "pneumonia"...
To: Movemout
The experts are clearly worried. This doesn't seem to be a routine flu outbreak.
I'm sure our military planners are hoping it doesn't spread to Kuwait.

The 1918 Spanish Influenza pandemic killed an estimated 20 million as I recall and most died in a period of six months.
About five years ago some researchers were exhuming the bodies of some victims including ones buried in permafrost in hopes of culturing a live virus.

SARS...Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome...
A pneumonia with no cause that has been identified, I read that it MAY be related to Influenza Type B. It starts out with high fever, over 101, and flu symptoms.

Paleocon, whatever it was meant to convey, has become a codeword for people with neo-nazi leanings The archtypical paleo-con is Senator Robert Taft. When you run across someone who has a high regard for the Constitution, that person is probably a paleo-con. Me, for example.
If anyone is using paleo-con as a code word for skinheads and neo-nazis it is the neo-conservatives.
The primary tactic of the various socialist types is to demonize their opponents.

Thanks. I realized that I misplaced my decimal point as I hit post. Then my computer went into the deep freeze (I wish the youngun's would quit downloading beta programming). You are correct, sir. 62.5 million deaths would be the number based on the model provided by the Spanish Lady.

Gosh...that means its absolutely pointless to quit smoking!! LOL Not that I intended to. Wouldn't that be a kicker..if all smokers were not infected...rofl. Also should I become a victim to this terrible scourge, please send me to France, Germany, Russia or Iraq for quarantine.
Thank you very much.
