"...that midget cow Natalie lives in Austin."

Makes sense that she would live in Commie Central, Texas.

Just got back from the Atlanta Rally. One of my signs carried the inscription "Boycott the Vichy Chicks".

Reading the interviews with Maines on the net has made it clear to me that Maines has been on the left for quite some time. Here she describes herself as a "Hippie free-spirit," fascinated by 60s music and politics during her school years.

You're welcomed.

Maybe the DCs can give a concert at one of ANSWER's commie rallies. They'd fit right in.

LOL ! Bullseye !

Did you fit in or stand out growing up?
I was a rebel who wanted to break the mold; it was sort of my one-woman mission. I had the half-shaved head, yet I was a cheerleader. It's kind of like what we're doing now: Hey, we can be country and still look how we want to look.

Add Lyle Lovett to the Natalie Maines critics, though the Houstonian did call the outspoken Dixie Chicks singer "a sweet girl" at his one-on-one interview with Texas Monthly editor Evan Smith at the Convention Center Saturday. "There are appropriate times for appropriate people to speak out," Lovett said when Smith brought up the controversy Maines has caused by telling a London audience she's ashamed President George W. Bush is from Texas.. "But just because you have the forum doesn't mean you should speak," Lovett said. Maines' sentiments no doubt had greater support at the big anti-war march that turned an already packed downtown area into a crush of pandemonium. I've never seen it so crazy so early downtown during SXSW.

Quote-Mr. Mellencamp doesn't have high hopes for "To Washington," his rewrite of an old country-folk tune. The song - which will be on his next CD and can be heard at www.mellencamp.com - features new lyrics about Mr. Bush and ends by asking "What is the thought process to take a human's life? What would be the reason to think that this is right?"

I would take a bet that this jerk is pro-abortion.

If the DC were releasing an anti-war song (can they beat Madonna?), and stations refused to air it, that would be censorship. If Maines called in for some anti-war chat with the DJ and he refused to put her on air, that would be censorship.

Censorship? Hardly. Such a much-abused word. As you yourself said, the stations would be "responding to their listeners, not censoring".

Governments censor. Businesses make business decisions. For these radio stations to be practicing true censorship, they would be able to enforce their no-play decision on all media outlets, on threat of violence.
