You may be correct that there will be no pre-emptive attack, of course, but I just don't know where people get off making comments like "Saddam might be insane, but he is not stupid". (Or "Saddam is evil but not suicidal" or any of these variants.) How exactly did a layperson like yourself gain such insight into the details of Saddam Hussein's personality?

Frankly, the guy seems pretty frickin' stupid to me. But then again I'm no expert on his psychology, mentality, and intelligence (unlike you) ;-P

One thing for certain about Saddam, he will do something totally unexpected that makes no sense. just like when he set the Kuwaiti oil wells on fire.

All you have to do is examine the situation. Saddam has all the world (except us) running interference for him. What could he possibly gain from launching an attack against us at this point?
