Should be a target-rich environment. But it also shows why we tried so hard to station an armored division in Turkey near the northern Iraqi border.

NBC Nightly News was amazingly balanced tonight-as rare an occurrence as finding a patriotic Democrat, which is why I stuck around to watch a bit.Jim Miklaszewski said that Iraq is moving artillery pieces to the Kuwait border,for a possible anthrax launch on Kuwait City-which could be devastating for the civilians and US troops.The Iraqi scuds may contain sarin gas,bringing 3,000 possible deaths to Tel Aviv and 30,000 injured.The bizarreness of this NBC report is Jim blithely talking about Iraq's WMD today, while tomorrow, Andrea Mitchell will breathlessly report that Blix and his aide,Bill Clinton, have given Iraq a clean bill of health in the latest UN report.Miklaszewski said the US might have to take out the batteries soon.

This can't possibly be considered a preemptive strike. They are simply driving their equipment. I think that's allowed under the U.N. sanctions (not that that matters at all). If I were a dictator I would also strategically position my army if I knew I was going to get clobbered in 7 days. Again, not that it will matter...
