Here's one more for your list, nully. ABC News is reporting that Iraq has 700 oil wells rigged with explosives tied to one command center.

Thanks null and void, I had read that one, I'll see if MSNBC has a video a little later, I think they still have yesterdays front page on at the present. And I refuse to sign up for pay video at CNN, next they'll be wanting me to pay for their popcorn.

Yep! If torching the wells in Kuwait was good, torching them in Iraq's gotta be better...

Can you say "E-bomb"?

I'm just an unsophisticated Alabama girl. Are you saying that an e-bomb can actually interfere with or stop these explosions? If so, fan-freepin-tastic.

An e-bomb sends out a huge electro-magnetic pulse that fries all electronics in the neighborhood.

That is precisely what I'm saying. I have doubts as to whether the troops would obey any such order, knowing it will mean their certain death.

That just shows we are playing against the Keystone Cops of the military world.

It would take out the electronics controlling the oil wells and the explosives, but we can always drop in new electronic equipment to replace those that we disabled. It's probably the only plan we have to stop the oilfields from going up in flames.

But probably not copper wire and a plunger.

Thank you all for the explanations. I recall an e-bomb threat but regretfully, never clicked on it. I'll seach for it when I get a few minutes. Thanks again.

John Derbyshire wrote an excellent column in the National Review Online this week on this topic while discussing the options regarding N. Korea.

Read it here:     Night Thoughts: Chilling thoughts of times to come, unless we act      FReegards.
