FoxNews Alert just reported that Iraqi troops have left Baghdad with heavy artillary and are heading south to the Kuwaiti boarder. More troops with SCUD missle launchers are heading west. The thought is that Saddam is about to attack our troops.
This is breaking news and details are few and far between.

"U.S. officials fear that once President Bush signals the U.S. is headed to war, Saddam Hussein will
strike pre-emptively,"--
Yeah, he'll just be waiting for the phone call from Klinton.

Remember what an odd day it was today from the President and then Ari. Neither seemed liked themselves first with the President accepting the shamrocks and then Ari's press conference.
Maybe we are in the real countdown now!

Can you say "sea of glass"? That is what happens to Tikrit, Saddam's digs, if he does this sarin or anthrax on our boys.

To defend the poster of this thread: The evening cable news IS frustrating because they give little teasers and then go back to their tabloid-like stories. There are several articles posted on FR tonight that our military is worried Saddam will strike pre-emptively. As a step-mother to a young man who is positioned to help defend Israel, I was especially interested to hear about Iraqi troop movement. The Fox Report I heard said the troops were moving with missiles capable of hitting Israel. I'll always appreciate these updates from Freepers and I did hear Fox say it was Breaking News. Anyway, you were kind and I'm being kinder!

Remember how some of us were talking about Ari's press conference containing a lot of diplomatic speak which he never does.
Then the President cancelled his St. Patrick's Day luncheon on Capitol Hill.
Could this fit?

" 'Incidents" are usually used as a propaganda ploy to gain public support for an attack. Remember how WWII started? German troops, disguised in Polish uniforms, attacked a German army post near the border killing several German soldiers. This "incident" gave Hitler the pretext he thought he needed to launch the massive attack on Poland."
Document "usually" and, more importantly, demonstrate that this is likely to be the case now. Are most "incidents" fake? Do you not see the paradox of this? Are there no real "first strikes"? How is that possible? In any case, one episode does not make it "usual". How could we fake an onslaught by the whole Iraqi Army?

Why would Blix say anything about SCUDS - they are not banned weapons, are they? They certainly travel less than the 95 mile limit...I seem to remember a bunch of them hitting Israel last time; that's WAY over 95 miles. I guess you forgot your < /sarcasm >.

The dirty nuke in a scud will work well against Kuwait or Isreal. Then there would be no Iraq to worry about re-building methinks.

But, Sodom; you can't attack yet. The weapons inspectors haven't checked out of their hotel yet!
