Dixie Chicks Comment

At a recent concert in England, The Dixie Chicks said the following..."Just so you know," we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas."

Just like Bill Clinton who went to Moscow and tried to undermine the America he draft-dodged, these statements made to appease the enemies of America's self-defense are nothing but treasonous. Free speech is one thing, but this aids the enemies of America's efforts to secure the safety of its own people. Look, chicks, you are either with the war to remove ruthless tyrants bent on killing innocents or you are part of the problem. Sad, but this is a lot bigger than liberalism gone amuck in America. This is treason. Grow a brain.

PS: Which one is Natalie (picture)?

Don't they have a song about a battered wife who kills her husband. When asked about that song, they giggled and said something like "oh it's just a fun, girl song". And i thought Cindi Lauper was scary.

I am so very disappointed. Those gals are so talented and work so hard, I just adored them. This rips it for me. I will never listen to them again nor buy another album.

Yes, they did; that little ditty was titled "Earl Had to Die". I turned the radio off every time it was played. I wouldn't spend a plugged nickel on their "music".

You pre-suppose they actually write their own songs.

I didn't even know that they could read and and write. I'd be suprised if they could. The DC are a product of cosmotology and sound engeneering.

All I saw was the quote, but from what has been posted over the web, it was the little fat one.

I've always referred to them as the Chicks with Dicks. Now I'll be referring to them as the band that was on the radio when I turned it off.

I like it.

As for me, I am ashamed the "dixie licks" call themselves Texans!

And their music? That AINT Country! No Way.

Click here for a list of hyperlinks to country music stations throughout the US.

Locate your hometown's country music stations and let them know how you feel about hearing the DC's songs on their station!

Wow! Talk about sour grapes!

Actually, the two sisters are extremely talented musicians, and Natalie has a terrific country music background. They do play their own instruments, and play them very well.

While I will not buy another DC CD and I will not go to any concert they play, I'm not going to sulk about how bad they are. They aren't: They're quite good, if you like that sort of music. I just don't agree with their politics, and will not support their views financially.

Let's not make our usual FR mistake. The Chicks don't need me to defend their views or their music, but they play their own instruments on their last album and they play and sing well. They also went to a lot of trouble to bring Americana back to Country, which would be a good thing, IMO, since I'm so tired of crossover junk I could cry. That was a stupid thing to say and may indicate a lack of common sense, but they are talented in their own right.

Of course, I would have never bought an album with "Landslide" or "Earl Had to Die", but that's not about a lack of talent.

Shalom.

Cat Country in Harrisburg has a poll on whether they should stop playing the Chicks. They attribute the quote to Natalie.

Current vote is 5 for and 5 against.

I would recommend only locals vote, but you FReepers can do what you want.

Shalom.

Well, I've never liked them, and I think the little troll has an awful, awful voice. And, their material is terrible. So, really, this is: a) not a surprise (after all, they gave Toby Keith hell over his song); b) not a disappointment.

BTW, I shouldn't say this at all on FR, but a friend of mine has long called them worse than the two examples given here. Let's just say it rhymes with "Sick Duck Chicks." ;)
