'Between' is used prepositionally to differentiate two items from each other... more than two requires the use of 'among' to accomplish the prepositional need...of course far be it from me to stipulate lack of substance regarding a microscopic grammatical glitch...

These countries have a lot to gain from America's losses. Even the Vatican -- which couldn't be bothered with the Holocaust...It's a lie, and the writer is a glib liar.

Janeane Garofalo forgets that Iraq had Sarin, VX, blodd agent, and other nice chemical weapons at the end of Desert Storm.
And not all of it was destroyed.
So yes, we DO know that.
I hate that idiotic twit so much, especially since she comes from Newton, NJ.
She's a prime example of what Newton, NJ was putting out at the time I lived near there.
Hopefully, it's changed drastically since then.
Not likely.

Correction before the spelling nitpickers hit:
BLOOD agent.
Chemical ebola.
Kills you by making you bleed from the inside out.

They say there's no precedent for a preemptive strike, as if September 11th never happened. This is the best response to the 'preemptive strike' critique that I have seen, one that Bush et al would be well advised to take up as our rallying cry.

Yes. The Fix IS In. It is much worse than most of us can even imagine however. The battle lines being drawn now will deepen and widen and become active violent entrenchments. God has drawn the line in the sand and every human being will now choose which master he shall serve. This is it folks. This is the run-up to World War.
We will easilly crush Sadam. Nothing will change except it will be easier for us to attack Pakistan and Iran. The conflict will grow. Terrorism will blossom like rag weed EVERYWHERE. The anti-war movement here in America will make the devisiveness of the Viet Nam era look like nothing in comparison.
Most of Europe will sit on the sidelines and carp at us. Perhaps even actively resist our military efforts. Brace yourselves everybody. Our lives will never be the same again.

"Between?" If we're being such sticklers here, try "...differences among these words." Besides, insure and ensure are essentially the same.
Sorry, I was thinking of the first and the last and didn't go back to change my preposition. As far as your latter observation is concerned, the primary uses of the words are that one can ensure that something will or will not happen and insure a life or a truck. There has been a lot of muddle of the flaunt/flout variety over these similar-sounding words. It doesn't help that too many dictionaries now, rather than resist the assault of illiteracy, simply portray themselves as reflective of language use and lay themselves back for the rape.

Imprecision (and illiteracy) is born from such microscopic grammatical glitches and the disinclination to care about small, though meaningful, distinctions. See #38.

Assuming that Saddam has WMD, and assuming that he is not to be trusted, do you think that all the time we have spent sending our troupes to his border is enough time for him to send a couple of ponds of anthrax or other deadly material to the US? Obviously yes! Then, what is he waiting for?
AS you know, the Al-Jazera network broadcast tapes from Bin Laden all the time, and we cannot force them to tell us where that SOb is. The same ting with the Moslem terrorists, the anthrax can be made available to them without knowing it is coming from Iraq? At the end, we can have cities in this country all messed up, and have no way to identify the source of the WMD?
I guess since Saddam did not use his WMD in 1991 on us or on the Israelis, and since all these years with sanctions, he still did not use the deadly stuff, then you may conclude that he is not as crazy as we think?
As I contemplate all these ideas, and contemplate the potential consequences to our soldiers as the fight door to door in Baghdad, I get more and more confused.
