Didn't Purim originate in Persia, now part of Iraq?

Persia is modern IRAN.

Actually, ancient Persia is modern Iraq and Iran put together. Baghdad was the capital of Persia at one point.

OK. But at the time of Esther, Persia was a great empire. So, I reckon part of the empire slopped over into Iraq? Just asking.
