Michael Savage: To Hell with the Conservative Media
03.11.03 | myself

Posted on 03/11/2003 2:58:21 PM PST by fight_truth_decay

"I'll put my advertising in the liberal media," Savage said, sounding off on the lack of conservative media and conservative website coverage his new show received, after its airing on MSNBC, this past Saturday.

The Savage Nation, which debuted in the time slot of 2 PM PST and 5 PM EST, Dr. Savage deemed a big success. Savage said, "NYC called after the show with thumbs up." "We got a star." "It's a hit and we are going to run with it." However, Savage added, to catch a bigger audience the upcoming shows will be aired again at 6 PM PST and 9 PM EST .

He went on the attack mentioning the "Great Bill O'Reilly with tongue in cheek" and other "talking heads" on the "conservative and liberal aisles going out" after their shows with their guests, with whom they had just argued with in front of the camera, "for martinis and discussing how they had screwed the audience". Savage believes his show will be different and true to the audience.

A caller to Savage's radio/talk show asked why he stood up during the show. Savage joked MSNBC couldn't afford a table and chair; but then went on to say he had stood for 3-4 years doing his radio show. He said, "I get air in and air out which makes me a better speaker", comparing his style to that of a singer. He did admit the lighting needed to be toned down. This was the only discomfort he felt which derived from an accident he suffered when young, often wearing sun glasses to compensate.

The second show will again offer some of the same footage of the atrocities in Iraq, more footage of 9/11 "to bring the liberals out of their haze." "People need to be woken up." "I am declaring war on Hollywood." "I will roast them over the coals." "How did we go from WWII when Hollywood stood up for the country to the Hollywood today ?" he asked.

The show contined with callers giving positive feed back for Savage. Then he quickly moved onto the hot topic of Rep.James P. Moran, Jr. of Va. "who is not qualified to be in office, as Trent Lott was brought down for far less". Savage stated we should put pressure on the Republicans to have him "thrown out now", for bigotry from remarks made at the St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Reston on March 3rd, which Moran has now apologized for. He questioned, "Where is Boxer, Feinstein and the other Jewish Democratic Senators and Congressmen?" Footage of Rep.Moran's remarks, Savage hopes to run on next week's show.

When a bomb has an "R on it", Savage says, it's evil, when it has a "D on it", it's ok. You have to admit as Dr. Savage says at the beginning of his show: "Here's the dragon, do I not scream?"

What is this smear conservatives hour?

Count your blessings that it isn't "form a complete sentence hour".

Yeah, it reminds me of a line from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, in that they can't stand Michael, and yet can't stop talking about him.

There has been a lot of criticism about Savage. The only thing you have not accused him of is being humble.

Did you see the FR live thread about his show?

No and I only caught the last part of the show, conflicted with a rally.

he should follow the example of Rush Limbaugh - remember Rush had phone calls when his tv show first started and then slowly stopped doing them until, near the end, it was rare, if ever, that he'd ever take a call vs. just skewering the libs & making commentary.

I listened to him for the first time, yesterday. I think he's terrific.

But I can see why the Latte RINOs are trying to disown him.

I didn't mean the story to be a criticism, but just reported on his show today with his comments. I have been a listener for quite some time. I was curious only on everyone's take on the MSNBC show.

Just giving him space on a Conservative based website, as he requested.

Laughing at *humble*.

Unless you're referring to the callers, in which case i agree he isn't always a gentleman.

However, he gives respect when due..recently he had on a Freeper, Oliver. They had a difference of opinion but Savage respected his opinion and went on to say so throughout the entire show. He respects a difference of opinion if dished with intelligence.

Savage is certifiably schizophrenic

Agree. Fruitcake also comes to mind.

The Anti-Rush. All hype and screaming, no rationality. He'd make a good leftist talk show host for the new network, if he was only leftist.

I've tried him, five or six times. I get sick to death of his fawning, Howard-Stern-like sycophants, who lather on the "OOOO, Michael, you're so goooood!"

You sure you weren't listening to Hannity? :)

Actually, Rush, like Michael, tried to make his TV show a video version of his radio show. The problem was, it just was not feasible, certainly not for a half-hour show with commericials.

That was why the show kept evolving until season three.

"Please dont confuse Savage with a conservative, he's a populist with some of his views bordering on Fascism. Just because he agrees with some conservative views doesn't mean he has a conservative mindset."

Excuse me! Hardly Fascist - I think you slept through too many college classes or haven't been listening to talk radio long.

It's Borders Language Culture

What a freaking hypocrite !!

I am a massive Savage fan, and lived in California when he had his very first broadcast years ago on KSFO, but one thing about him has always bugged me to death about him. He is a hypocrite !!

I remember once he was really ripping on SF Mayor Willie Brown, just really scathing him, calling him a race-baiting poverty pimp and all, and he goes to a call..."Micheal this is Mayor Brown, I thought I'd better call in to defend myself...". What followed was the worst episode of "lap dogging" I have ever witnessed. It was worse than Geraldo with Clinton during the Impeachment.

Savage has also on several occasions let slip that he went out to dinner with among others, Willie Brown. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

I find Him very entertaining and listen often, but one should not think for a second that Paul Revere, the man after whom Micheal's fan society is named, would go out to dinner with the likes of Micheal Savage.

I'm sure I've stirred up a hornet's nest now, but I couldn't let this one go.
