Michael Savage: To Hell with the Conservative Media
03.11.03 | myself

Posted on 03/11/2003 2:58:21 PM PST by fight_truth_decay

"I'll put my advertising in the liberal media," Savage said, sounding off on the lack of conservative media and conservative website coverage his new show received, after its airing on MSNBC, this past Saturday.

The Savage Nation, which debuted in the time slot of 2 PM PST and 5 PM EST, Dr. Savage deemed a big success. Savage said, "NYC called after the show with thumbs up." "We got a star." "It's a hit and we are going to run with it." However, Savage added, to catch a bigger audience the upcoming shows will be aired again at 6 PM PST and 9 PM EST .

He went on the attack mentioning the "Great Bill O'Reilly with tongue in cheek" and other "talking heads" on the "conservative and liberal aisles going out" after their shows with their guests, with whom they had just argued with in front of the camera, "for martinis and discussing how they had screwed the audience". Savage believes his show will be different and true to the audience.

A caller to Savage's radio/talk show asked why he stood up during the show. Savage joked MSNBC couldn't afford a table and chair; but then went on to say he had stood for 3-4 years doing his radio show. He said, "I get air in and air out which makes me a better speaker", comparing his style to that of a singer. He did admit the lighting needed to be toned down. This was the only discomfort he felt which derived from an accident he suffered when young, often wearing sun glasses to compensate.

The second show will again offer some of the same footage of the atrocities in Iraq, more footage of 9/11 "to bring the liberals out of their haze." "People need to be woken up." "I am declaring war on Hollywood." "I will roast them over the coals." "How did we go from WWII when Hollywood stood up for the country to the Hollywood today ?" he asked.

The show contined with callers giving positive feed back for Savage. Then he quickly moved onto the hot topic of Rep.James P. Moran, Jr. of Va. "who is not qualified to be in office, as Trent Lott was brought down for far less". Savage stated we should put pressure on the Republicans to have him "thrown out now", for bigotry from remarks made at the St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Reston on March 3rd, which Moran has now apologized for. He questioned, "Where is Boxer, Feinstein and the other Jewish Democratic Senators and Congressmen?" Footage of Rep.Moran's remarks, Savage hopes to run on next week's show.

When a bomb has an "R on it", Savage says, it's evil, when it has a "D on it", it's ok. You have to admit as Dr. Savage says at the beginning of his show: "Here's the dragon, do I not scream?"

He strikes me (and I admit I nothing about him) as one of these radio guys who is trying to cash-in on the popularity of conservative talk shows. If the liberals could draw an audience like Rush I bet he'd be dressed like Castro and talking about the glory of socialized medicine.

you don't have to eat the whole meal to know if the chef is any good.

Savage said, preferring to dine in authentic Chinese restaurants,"I want to hear babies crying and tea cups being tipped over."

The part that caught my attention was his celebration after his show with Dom Perignon. Guess he's not boycotting France.

I didn't see the show, and I've never heard the radio show, but the above sounds pretty good to me, especially, if he draws a good audience.

Showing the demorats as the hypocritical bigots that they are is a good think in my book.

I normally only watch PMSNBC when Nora Odonnel is on, but I think I'll give this show a chance.

"Please dont confuse Savage with a conservative, he's a populist with some of his views bordering on Fascism."

Rush, compared to Savage, is a gentleman. He is funny and treats his guests with some level of respect.

Savage has (on the record) a better education than Rush, but is coarse and rough.

Savage is basically right in his theme of "language, borders and culture", but he pushes it into the direction of the "America First" movement that Lindberg supported before WWII.

Rush is a funny guy. But Savage is hilarious every day. Some days it's non-stop.

Savage doesn't have guests often, but is always a gentleman with them. Unless you're referring to the callers, in which case i agree he isn't always a gentleman.

"Michael Savage is the obnoxious guest at the party who will shout to be heard above all the other guests."

You nailed it. Unless he is acting (which I doubt) this guy must be one major SOB to work or live with. His success is only making him worse. I give him a few more months until everybody gets bored and MSNBC pulls the plug. The ratings for the first show were low according to Drudge (the time slot didn't help I'm sure). He has been hyping the show for weeks though and it doesn't look like anybody watched.

He had said something about 9/11 footage, of the planes going in and the falling bodies. Though was the implication that he couldn't get it to air, from NBC?

I tried calling his radio show last night to ask about this, but his screener just blew me off 3 times.

Otherwise, his first TV show was essentially radio.

Ever get irritated when a liberal asks "What is wrong with Communism?" We can get even by asking "What is wrong with Fascisim." Watch the gobbling ensue, heh.

Excuse me? You calling Savage a fascist? Why? Is it because he espouses a military presence on our borders? Is it because he believes people who come to America should act like Americans, and not try to turn their town into a miniature version of the country they came from?

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, pal, but Savage is not the only one who thinks this. That's why his show is so popular.

Borders. Language. Culture. Savage said it, I agree with him, and that settles it.

He did describe his first tv appearance as "walking on broken glass". The later time slot will enable me to tune in and form an opinion. I listen to his radio/talk when in the car. He can rant like he did today, but puts out a good show. Plus, someone must be listening, his book has been in the #1 NYTimes Best Seller list for over 5 weeks. I have it, but haven't read it yet.

Then why are you listening to/watching the man? You don't like him? Turn him off! Don't read his book! Don't talk about him!

Could it be any more simple?
