Pat Buchanan issues a controversial, 5000-word indictment of the 'War Party' of Bennett, Kristol, Podhoretz and Richard Perle. When you are at war and you are a member of the 'War Party', isn't that a good thing?
To: CoolGuyVic
Pat wants no part of any foreign wars.
Unless we're talking going to war against Israel.
To: CoolGuyVic
Pat's right, but I just wish he'd leave Israel out of it.
True or not, every time he brings up Israel he gives his opponents an easy out.
To: CoolGuyVic
Pat is attacking "neo-cons"? I am shocked, just shocked! Its not as if this has not been going on since 96' for crying out loud. Regardless, I wish Pat the best on his publication.

'War Party' ideas and plans for an attack on Iraq had been 'in preparation far in advance of 9/11, Does he mean the Dept. of Defense didn't have contingency plans for the Iraqi quagmire we've been in years before that? Why weren't they activated back then? Clinton called for "regime change."
Seems to be more "Jewspotting" on Pat's part - one of his hangups. Reads like a Saudi newspaper.

And let's not forget the Jewish bankers who are wrecking our economy. Someone should do something.

Pat's stating the obvious. Look at all the "Israel-firsters" in this forum, in the news media, and in other positions of power. I just hope the price we end up paying for fighting Israel's war is worth it.

Who/what exactly according to Buchanan is neocons?
To: CoolGuyVic
I appreciate most of what Pat has to say, but this preoccupation with the "amen corner" is borderline obsessive.

Pat (Sieg Heil) Buchanan has predictably returned to his anti-Jewish venom, blaming it all on the Jews. If you recall, he repeated this same anti-Semitic slander in the runup to the Gulf War where he blamed Israel's "Amen corner" in then-President Bush's government.
Buchanan is an anti-Semite who loathes Jews, hates Israel and opposes any and every action that might even indirectly aid the Israeli cause.
He is nothing more than an isolationist neo-Nazi.
Want to make Buchanan REALLY mad... remind him Der Fuhrer and his Nazis lost the war.

Ronald Reagan used to point out that he didn't leave the Democrat Party. The party left him.
Well, the opposite is true in Buchanan's case. While he has some still valid points concerning immigration, the culture war, etc. and overall mushiness of the Republican Party, his views over the past few years have turned downright bizarre.
Especially in this piece, he comes across as bitter, and personal in tone, imo. He hates the Bushes personally I think and his primary challenges, especially in '92 still stings.
What I most don't get about this piece, is that this is written by the same man who wrote "Death of the West", the population crisis and clash between East and West- Muslim v. non-Muslim.
His views on the Middle East and overall U.S. national interest, particularly in the post 9-11 world and Islamofascism reality we face is perplexing.
To: CoolGuyVic
Buchanan strikes me as a wannabe of the first order. he has been rejected and ridiculed; his ego has been trashed repeatedly. He strikes me as going through a personal crisis each and every time I see him chattering on the media- very post menopausal depressing type.
Finally, his ruminations are being exploited by the left; that tells me that he is a vicious and angry man, with delusions of having been abandoned by the conservative right.
