Republicans plan to respond to the stalled nomination of Miguel Estrada to a federal appeals court by calling for votes on other contested judicial nominees, leaving Democrats facing the prospect of conducting concurrent filibusters on multiple nominees.

"We're going to load that calendar with judges, and the pressure will build to move these judges, and that ultimately will come," said Sen. Larry E. Craig, Idaho Republican and a member of the Judiciary Committee, last week after his party lost a cloture vote on Mr. Estrada.

He told about how both the Washington Post and the New York Times had repeatedly refused to print his opinion columns

Now that's hard to believe!

Sen. Trent Lott, another staunch supporter of the embattled judge, also has been talking to key Democrats "who may not want to be part of a partisan political smear," Lott spokesman Lee Youngblood said.

Ralph Neas is a major-league slime ball.

...I hope and pray the Republicans wipe the floor with the Democrats next year, and that Dubya wins re-election by a sizable margin. It's a good thing my food had already been digested upon reading about this cretin; it would have been all over my keyboard.

The injustice to Estrada will be lost.

If Estrada is sacrificed, jurists who are unable to be categorized by political ideology due to a perceived lack of information will no longer be acceptable candidates for the federal judiciary.

Spoken in true Trent Lott fashion...namby-pamby weak words.

No wonder the Dems learned that they could get away with this cr*p.

I'm glad he's taking the proper position and action, don't get me wrong, but it is the Lott way of dealing with the RATS that got us to this point, in large part.

Ted Kennedy's grand design

It is part of a grand design to talk to death a succession of conservative judges selected by President Bush. Democrats are intent on keeping the Senate from voting on any appellate nominations that do not meet the party's specifications.

This extraordinary design, without precedent in two centuries of judicial nominations, was launched January 30 in the office of Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. Present were Assistant Leader Harry Reid and six Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats. With all pledged to secrecy, the fateful decision was made to filibuster Estrada's nomination.

That was only the beginning. One Judiciary Committee member there was Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Senate's 71-year-old liberal lion. In private conversations with Daschle and in Democratic caucuses, Kennedy has pressed a plan to prevent President Bush from putting his ideological stamp on the federal bench.

Tom Daschle
and 5 other Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats

Why is it when I look at this guy's face I see the words "d-ckhead" and "a--hole" imprinted on his forehead? Who'd believe what comes out of his mouth except for a few idiot liberals anyway?

If the Senate Republicans ever wake up and return to a real filibuster system, the 24 hour marathons could give us the spectacle of Teddy the Swimmer going through DTs on national television.

The guy is incoherent under the best of circumstances; but after a little sleep deprivation, he would in all likelihood end up as a quivering pile of jelly on the Senate floor. It would be ugly, but educational, for the American electorate.

........
what it would do is turn the public against the democrats so fast that the rats would cave and want to to vote on them all.
