The United Nations charter specifically states the that the Secretary General cannot be from a nation that is a permanent member of the Security Council.

So the rest of the UN kicks us out of permanent status for the "crime" of invading Iraq (especially for winning and establishing democratic rule). Or we quit the UN out of pique for any number of potential reasons.

In either case, problem solved. Clinton's in, and we can't even veto.

Don't think it can't happen.
