I am going to post only a few more pics, then hit the sack, I am sick again!!

Dutchy and Firebrand, along with 2 new Freepers, Kevin and Christine?? I need help on their names, I forgot! They came all the way from Poughkeepsie!! They might have just gotten home!

From left to right, this is BEFORE the highest point of the rally, and this picture shows about 125 people in the crowd, and it doubled after this was taken.

This is the middle shot from the left.

great work Race ... slowly, more and more of these rallies are getting (at least minimal) coverage. Real Americans see through the media bias, I'm sure.

Great job Race! I see the left wing press is up to their old tricks. No surprise there. The Communist question would be funny if it wasn't so sad. FYI-- WELI is hosting a support our troops rally on Saturday the 15th in East Haven. It is also a gathering to collect care packages for our troops in the middle east. Please help spread the word. Thanks, MM

I made an error. I taped the Channel 30 broadcast, they did announce 150 were present, not 100 like I thought I heard. That number is still half the number that were there.

BUT, they still called it a pro-war rally, which it was not!!

(Manchester-WTNH, Mar. 8, 2003 6:00 PM) _ Local folks were gathering today in support of US troops who are answering the call to duty.

They took part in the Support the Troops rally today in Manchester.

They say a war with Iraq is an extension of the war on terror,

Today's rally was sponsored by the local VFW.

Second story they posted!!

Manchester rally draws 300 Email to a Friend
Printer Friendly Version
(Manchester-AP, Mar. 8, 2003 7:40 PM) _ A rally to support U-S troops drew more than 300 people to Manchester today.

Families, friends and veterans listened to speeches and sang patriotic songs during the two-hour gathering at the V-F-W on East Center Street.

Many in the crowd held up photos of their sons and daughters serving in the military.

Dozens of motorists honked and waved as they passed by to show support. The rally attracted the attention of only one anti-war protester.

The 60-year-old protester says he does support the troops _ he just doesn't want to make them targets.

It made front page news on WTNH, the local ABC station that gave us a very positive message. They didnt show too much of the rally, but what was shown was good, and they deserve thanks!

Comment spage, lets thank them for being honest!!

"I don't get it, what is wrong with Communist groups leading peace movements?"

I guess that's we can expect living in The Peoples Republic of Connecticut.

Good job everybody!

INFINITE FREEP: SUPPORT OUR TROOPS RALLY IN MANCHESTER CT, TOMORROW, MARCH 8 ^

Field report summary: Support the troops ralley, Manchester CT VFW Post, March 8 2003.
Posted by Santa and Misses Claus.

Temp’s in the mid 40’s for a change, sunny, and just enough wind to flutter our flags!

Race Bannon and the Marines amphibious sound truck, about 80 supporters were already in place at 11:30, many with large flags and some signs and eagerly working the street.

Before 12:00 the last official head count was 150 souls. Many more later arrivals and passers by who joined us easily pushed the total way past 250, probably closer to 300. We were glad to see the many harley riders who attended, and special thanks to the RPMC (Rat Pack Motorcyle Club) who are organizing their own ralley in Waterbury next week for making a great showing. A Local US army contingent and a group of new US recruits showed up to great cheers. A stirring and ceremonius program was put on by the VFW, including the presentation of moving accounts by veterans, service people, mothers, wives and sisters of those already deployed, a few words from local broadcasting legend Brad Davis, and the new recruits were introduced and lauded. RaceBannon eloquently wrapped it up!

The group faced the intersection facing the VFW waving hand-held flags supplied by a donor or the event sponsors. Cars qued at the intersection waved and tooted as they rolled by. Responses were typical, with our most enthusiastic supporter driving ladder trucks, landscapers, and handymen, etc., and family types, ie, real americans. The few ‘thumbs down’ we got were driving sporty late model foreign lexus-liberal cars and Yugo-wannabe econo-boxes. A few attendees brought those musical megaphones and LOUD man-overboard type whistles, which by sounding them got many of the cars to start honking, which produced avalanches of honking. This really got the drivers encouraged and emotionally involved, and certainly over the big ‘emotional hump’ to ‘sound off’ for our side. Many of them, as most of us, feel isolated, and I’m sure many of them are heartened by seeing us.

A lone anti-American Ted Kaczynski-look alike appeared from the bookstore across the street and stood alone displaying some sort of long winded, fine print “Manifesto”. He only responded to a call of “hey pothead, saddam called on my cell phone, and he says all you humans shields are late for reporting to baghdad, so hurry along”, but failed to heed his masters call.

The VFW hosts generously and graciousl provided tasty hotdogs, premium doughnuts and coffee for the entire crowd. After the event, the US Army troops & recruiters were genuinely moved by the outpouring of support- they touchingly thanked everyone they could shake hands with and couldn’t say enough how vital it was for such people and organized events like this to.......

Fox, ABC, NBC, and CBS affiliates, as well as Hartford Courant & Journal Enquirer newspapers, showed up and interviewed many of our group, and the lone pothead across the street. Tune in to the evening news to see how they will use camera tricks to make our crowd look like 20 people, and the single pothead a rally of 100. (The Fox guy showed up very late, missed everything, apparently we were less important than a “mercury spill”- I think a few thermometers broke at a school)

Passing vehicles still hailed us even as our numbers dwindled.

Various signs seen at the rally:
LAND OF THE FREE, THANKS TO THE BRAVE
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY
ANOTHER FAMILY IN SUPPORT OF PRESIDENT BUSH AND OUR TROOPS
GIVE FRANCE BACK TO GERMANY
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS
GOD BLESS AMERICA
GOD BLESS OUR SON-IN-LAW
“I’LL TAKE IT FROM HERE” POSTER (US soldier taking flag from NYC fireman)

Keep your ears open for upcoming events in Waterbury & E.Haven in next week or two!
When things finally wrapped up, I think I saw a Freeper convoy departing to a local pub to celebrate another great event.
Great work Race & VFW- fantastic rally.

I'm going to try and get a rally going in Millington, TN it is nick named Flag City and is home of a small Navy base BUPERS (pencil pushers). I've got a list of the Memphis TV stations and radio stations. County GOP, Mill's Mayor, my state Sen & Rep the next County over Tipton's GOP former Col Lopez chairs that. Base commanders phone number, and will get the VFW's number. Would like to shoot for Mar 15th or 22nd. More likely the 22nd. We even have a small minor league ball stadium USA Stadium. There should be enough businesses to sponsor a rally out here..we have a population of about 9,000. BUT we sit in the same county as Memphis.
