It is very hard to create a show; the first show is rarely 100%. One should judge the first show for its potential - you were nick-picking on details; in fact you were trying to re-arrange the show almost completely. The completion would have been a replacement for the host. I just finished your thought.

I am glad Savage is out there, and I am glad that some people enjoy listening to him. But, imo he does little more than sloganeer and hang up on people.

Listening is like eavesdropping on passive-agressive sewing circle.

You're obviously not interested in arguing the points anyway, so it's just as well.

If you think suggesting that somebody standing in the middle of an empty stage with a mike in front of his face, shifting from one foot to the other, moving his eyes from side to side continually, and looking like a deer in the headlights is critical, is a good thing, so be it.

While repulsive to many social conservatives, on most issues Howard Stern would fit right in here. He's another one who gets it about the scale of the war. His news segment usually hits on many of the same stories popular here, some serious, some funny.

I wish Boortz was on the air in NYC so I could hear him more often, but it's already a crowded market.

I always notice that people accuse others of their own sins.

where I can verify your allegation that this sedition act was repealled?

I only did a quick search, but here is a discussion of the Sedition Act (which was actually a part of the Espionage Act), repealed in 1921. (As I recall, it was repealed by Congress on Wilson's last day as president.)

In April 1917 President Wilson issued an Executive Order establishing a “loyalty test” for government employees.  In effect, government employees were required to support government policy.  Any employee whose conduct, speech or sympathy was judged “inimical to the public welfare,” by his/her supervisor, was liable to immediate dismissal.  The reasons for the dismissal were to be entered into a “confidential” record, which could be inspected by the Civil Service Commission.  In effect, “suspect” persons (and their associates) could be blacklisted from government employment.[4]

The following year, Congress passed the Sedition Act of 1918, which criminalized “disloyal, profane, scurrilous or abusive language about the form of government of the United States, or the Constitution of the United States,” and prohibited speech that would “urge, incite or advocate any curtailment of production in this country of anything. . .necessary or essential to the prosecution of the war.”  Congress repealed the Sedition Act in 1921.

I know these are not very commanding sources, but at least the law school entry has the exact statute citation, in case you'd like to research it further.

I liked MS even more on tv than on radio. I liked the set, the graphics, that he stood to deliver his message. I loved when he held up his Bible filled with post-it notes. Content great. The end was even good with the train going down the track like an own movie.

They stuck with the radio format and he certainly wasn't how the St. Pete Times portrayed him. Deggins from the Times mistakenly said that MSNBC already had Alan Keyes, Pat Buchanan, etc. Alan Keyes hasn't been on MSNBC in almost going on a year. Guess Deggins doesn't watch MSNBC either. I changed the channel as soon as I saw the train going down the track.

If you don't care what the show looks like, you might at least call him and tell him that the Sedition Act has been REPEALED years ago, so he should quit acting like it can be enforced.

I would give Savages first show a C+.
He seemed nervous and moved around quickly.
All and all, he believes in fighting fire with fire. This is what I like about him.
I say give the show a chance. Maybe some of the naysayers here will change their minds.
