The U.N. has shown what an ineffectual body it is,
and is nothing more then a play ground for the
psuedo- intellectuals of the left!!
The quicker the U.S. gets out, is all right
with me! The right in this Country has been bailing
out the social experimentation and collectivism
of the left far to long. We do not need to add
the U. N. to our list. Let them fall on their own sword!!

Well, I bet he would like his billion dollars back...LOL

The UN has done useful work in the past (Korea, Gulf One, even the November resolution, and other smaller matters, some of which are controversial around here like family planning, but which has made a measurable contribution to improving the standard of living in so many places), and it will again.

Pity the lines will converge, if they converge, way below where The Swimmer is at. Oh well.

connie chung just showed people pouring out wine in front of a french embassy..someone even brought their kid. you could see him dumping it in the gutter

The U.N. fed Allied information to the communists during the Korean 'conflict', causing the needless deaths of many Americans. Ii would hardly call that a success.

Hit em where it hurts!!
You will not see me drinking any of it!!
I think French wine is overrated anyway!
The performance today, of the French
Ambassador was absolutely pathetic!!

As for the useful work in the
past .. I don't disagree, to a point, but by not taking a stand and backing their OWN resolution they are becoming irrelevant
If don't stand behind their own words, what dictator in this world will take them seriously

The headline of the piece was not buttressed by the text below. In fact, there was no nexus at all. LOL.

Certainly it was. Did you read it?

The UN has also failed in the past, it will now (although I think the foreplay was highly useful for the US), and it will again. My point stands. No one has a perfect batting average, not even the US, although the US is in the hall of fame, and the UN is typically but a utility infielder. Such is life, and such is the reality of the role of a hyperpower on this planet.

Pour out that French wine and back away from the keyboard slowly... ;-)

That would be a waste. I don't favor waste.

Oh, That's right, I forgot, you're a conservative...LOL

The U.N. in the interest of it's own
exsistence, is complicit with almost
every terrorist group in the world.
I posit that they have done way more
harm then good!!
To: Torie
I can't speak for others, but I am not asking nor looking for the UN to be perfect .. history alone can point to things they have screwed up
But I do expect that when it counts, they best come as close as they can to getting it right
I realize that many of the same stuff was pulled back in 91, but I don't remember it being this bad
Like I said, tell will tell if they can repair the damage the has been done
