past .. I don't disagree, to a point, but by not taking a stand and backing their OWN resolution they are becoming irrelevant

The UN has also failed in the past, it will now (although I think the foreplay was highly useful for the US), and it will again. My point stands. No one has a perfect batting average, not even the US, although the US is in the hall of fame, and the UN is typically but a utility infielder. Such is life, and such is the reality of the role of a hyperpower on this planet.
