As for the useful work in the past .. I don't disagree, to a point, but by not taking a stand and backing their OWN resolution they are becoming irrelevant

If don't stand behind their own words, what dictator in this world will take them seriously

The UN has also failed in the past, it will now (although I think the foreplay was highly useful for the US), and it will again. My point stands. No one has a perfect batting average, not even the US, although the US is in the hall of fame, and the UN is typically but a utility infielder. Such is life, and such is the reality of the role of a hyperpower on this planet.
