Yeah...he's quiet. My kids were always more scared when I spoke quietly than when I yelled.
Saddam should follow their example.

Yeah...he's quiet. Don't like it. This another dog and pony for the liberals.. I don't think it's a negative thing. They'll take him on at their own risk; he's got his steely-eyed look.
To: section9
this is not peace, pretense
This better pick up...I've heard all of this...now what?
To: steveegg
Why do I get the feeling that missiles are in the air and that Bush is just waiting to announce that the liberation of Iraq begins NOW to coincide with a TOT barrage of missiles.

Is there anything new to this speech? It sounds like the same B.S. of the past four months.

How can it be that so many don't hear what he is saying, don't see what is right in front of their noses?!

Iraqi continue to hide bio and chem to avoid detection - moved to different locations every 12-24 hours - or placed in vehicles in residential neighborhoods....Iraqi scientiest continue to be threatened with bharm if they cooperate ....they are required to wear concealed recording devices....hotels are bugged by regime....
These are NOT the actions of a regime thats disarming - but of a defiant regime...we would know if they were disarming ...we would see them present weapons and see their destruction....with 200K troops he Saddam produces a few weapons for show while he hides the rest and builds more.....all the inspectors need is the FULL COOPERATIOn of the regime....conjectures are not acceptable
Unanimous vote of Sec Council said "TOTAL DISARMAMENT"
Cannot deny he is not DISARMING....long history of reckless aggression and terrible crimes....he posseses weapons of terror...funds terrorists....who would willingly use WMD against America and other countries....is direct threat to THIS country, people, and ALL people
If world fails to confront the regime....free nations would assume the risks ....the attacks of 9-11 show what the enemies of America did with 4 airplanes....we will not wait to see what terrorists or terrorist states can do with WMD....I will not leave the American people at the mercy of the Iraqi dictator and his weapons...
In the event of conflict, we assume the respons. to protect innocent lives in every way possbile....help build gov't for people to choose....anything they choose will be better than the misery, torture and murder they have known under saddam ....across the world people are hoping and praying for peace...our goal is peace for our nation our friends and allies, the people of mid east....people of goodwill must also recog. that allowing a dictator is not peace, it is PRETENSE....
Thanks to service men and women....

Somebody needs to tell Bush that he should come out
on fire in these news conferences.
This is a sleepy opening statement. I don't understand why a man of conviction doesn't preach it.
This low modulation doesn't inspire. He sounds as if he's giving a eulogy.

I don't read it as flat; he's trying to play the serious, determined role. He's surely decied to make this delivery as opposed to the energetic one we saw at the SOTU.I don't know if he's playing that role, or if he is very serious. This is a serious subject - Saddam let it escalate.

I think so. Remember how great he was at the first press conference after 9/11?

Let's see what stupid questions our friendly press corps puts to him. THIS should be good.
I assume the first question will come from the senile old left-wing bat.
