Fred Barnes made the point that the President's message tonight was to CLEARLY state that the UN is irrelvant (my word).

Catch him in the morning. His morning speeches are wonderful, and speeches (like the State of the Union) he's practiced for a long time. Yes, when he has a good practiced speech, he is excellent. He's never dealt well with the leftists of the press. But yet, here I sit here and think, 'why doesn't he just lay out a couple of aces - show something hard?'.
Stuff like this press conference is work. You can tell he hates talking to these maggots.
I agree.
He's tired.
He is, and he's been dealing with quite a bit this week. I think he's both tired and very somber. He knows the risks, but I think the decision is all but made. We'll see action by next week. IMHO, of course.

ABC - Peter Jennings asking Terry Moran about the event. ABC was wanting to talk about Korea (like certain posters here). NOw moving on toward the hunt for OBL.
ABC doesn't seem to be talking much abouththe US vs UN angle, which is the big hidden story in the President's press conference. The non-hidden story is that we will be going to war, UN or not.

The harping on "the book of Revelation" is getting wearisome, friend.
I do believe Asia, proper, is referred to as "the King(s) of the East" somewhere in that book.
"Prophetically" speaking, their time will surely come.
Be that as it may, perhaps NK deserves its current back-burner status based primarily on "bar fight" logic.
It's not the loud mouth rampaging drunkenly that presents the greatest threat....it's almost always the quiet guy with the crazy eyes, sitting darkly in the corner.
After all, none of the 911 hijackers made any commotion, whatsoever, before they struck.
This is only my semi-humble opinion.
Feel free to rage against it, if you so choose.

Jim Angle (FOX NEWS) was one of the first, and even though Bill Sammon is Wash Times.......... and FOX contributor

Again, I think it's because North Korea doesn't have oil If we wanted Saddam's oil we could just buy it from him, we have no need to take it. NK is a threat, as was the old Soviet Union - in some cases diplomacy works, in others it does not. If NK invaded SK tomorrow what do you think we would do? We would do what we did with Iraq, attack. NK can saber rattle all day long at us, Saddam has already acted and shown his willingness to continue to do so.
Lots of countries are threats to us, and each one must be handled differently for various reasons. We did not launch a military strike on the USSR, we knew that they did not want to be destroyed any more then we did - neither country was willing to pay the price. It is not apparent that such a deterrent works with Saddam. NK knows if they attack they will be decimated, and so far they don't appear to want to push us either.
Saddam does not want a conventional war, he wants a terrorist war, a different situation which, right now, calls for a different response.

Brokaw just gave a very positive (and actually even accurate) recap of what just happened at the press conference. What'd he say? If I watch network TV, I get shingles.

"Bush is clearly rejecting the United Nations" - Craig Oliver, CTV News (a Canadian network). Oliver said this like it's a BAD thing just moments ago. LOL

No Helen Thomas! Glory be!
When I want to punch a reporter, I try to remember that this President, a man with more reason than anyone to hate the press, respects their free speech. Sigh.

These stupid reporters are having an epiphany tonight. They thought they would change the world. They understand it will not be them, but George W. Bush who changes the world. And they cannot change that fact. Very well said.

I see that you have been around here for a long time. This surprises me because tonight in this thread you have demonstrated that you are an idiot.
