the "authorities" apparently decided to wait until the afternoon to clear the roads.

Sure seemed like it. I found the county roads on hills were in pretty good shape though. I guess they get the best treatment to avoid pile-ups at the bottom. ;-)

Wow, that is where I used to live. I hope no one was hurt.

I was on the way to the Y this morning when the Boston radio station mentioned "this snowy day". It was cloudy, but I didn't think we were supposed to get any snow. Twenty mins. later I'm in the pool doing water aerobics, and look out the windows to an absolute white-out! When I came out, 45 mins. later, there was almost an inch of snow on the ground. I decided not to do my errands and went straight home instead.

When I got home, I heard about the pile-up. I'm glad the injuries were few and minor. As of 6 this evening, we had over 4" of snow. AACKK I'm sick of this stuff, though I must admit, it sure looks pretty coming down.

I live in Dudley (30 minutes south of Worcester), and I got into a minor accident of my own today in my rear-wheel drive, 15 year old Volvo. I cracked the headlight on a guardrail, but fortunately, I didn't break the bulb. My car's a tank!

The only good thing about today's snow was --- it covered up the dirty stuff from last time. Of course, this new snow will become pretty bad looking in a day or so.

ROFLMAO!

Hey! Aren't these the same folks who like to laugh at the way southerners handle driving in the snow? heh heh....

Well, at least we didn't cart out 1100 dead people like they did in NORTHERN cities during the last HEAT WAVE!

I love it when the transplanted Yankees come down to Carolina and tell us how they drive in three feet of snow like it is nothing and then they slip in the ditch the first time we have a little sleet here. I grew up driving on red clay mud and that makes snow seem like a picnic. I have driven fifty miles at a stretch on solid ice out of necessity without benefit of four wheel drive or chains or studded tires and I learned to do this in SC and I learned it from my father who was born and raised in SC and not from anybody from up North.
