BUSH SHOULD PUT UP OR SHUTUP ON IRAQ!
Posted on 03/06/2003 2:00:13 PM PST by BJR
This Bush supporter is about to turn. For months we have heard all the valid reasons for ridding thEE world of Sadam Hussein, over and over and over again. Tonight, the word is that Bush will answer press questions on Iraq and, yet again, assure us all that no decision on war has been made. Great! The markets can continue to collapse, anti-war demonstrations go on, Bush's re-elect poll numbers plummet and Wart Hog Helen gets to ridicule Bush some more.
Well I've had it with Bush. The guy really isn't very smart afterall. And that guy Powell of his has actually done the impossible by making Madeleine Albright look competent in comparison. Bush discarded good advice from experts and get's snookered by Powell into going thru the UN, then watches as the French snooker Powell. And the US now has the humiliating task of begging the likes of Angola and Cameroon for approval to defend the country from horrendous attacks. In the meantime, Powell says we can't talk to North Korea as if just talking was synonymous with re-negotiating an agreement. As a result, Korea may start a war and the US foreign policy is the laughing stock of the world.
Enough is enough! Bush should fire Colin Powell, shutup and stay holed up in the white house until he is actually ready to act as tough as he talks. Come out only to announce the invasion of Iraq or its successful disarming by the UN, whichever comes first.

I think Ari Fletcher's response to the lovely Helen Thomas at yesterday's press briefing is a perfect response for this post of yours:
-- "Helen (substitute "BJR" here), if you were President you might view things differently. But you have your judgment and the President has others."
Remember, BJR, patience is a virtue and you have to remember that he has much more information than we do and will go when everything is in place. President Bush seems to me to care more about this country and its military than any other president I can remember (other than Ronald Regan - hard to choose between the two when it comes to their love of this country).

One of the reasons I am concered is that amoung those neighbors of mine that were supportive of Bush and troops to Iraq just one month ago some have switched over. It is very worrisome, especially to me who has a brother in So Korea right now. He, and I am sure, other servicemen in the MidEast also hear the rumblings that the world and even their folks back home are beginning to switch because of indecision in the White House. Gen Franks said over a month ago, our troops were ready for action. Some have now been sitting in the desert for 4 months bunched up together. I remember if no one else does the tragic withdrawal of our troops from Lebanon years ago after a heinous attack against them while they were bunched up in quarters awaiting action. It was a black mark that embarrassed Reagan and made the situation in the MidEast much worse and it has remained so to this date.
A serious attack on our troops even before action begins would damage this nation irreparably, and if the same kind of action is taken by our government that was taken in the 80's it would result in our troops leaving in humiliation for both these fine young men and our nation.

"Is it time for the pink pill?"Maybe, but anything perceived as something of the slightest "mis-step," and you can bet a few FReepers will start sipping the foul kool-aid of bitterness being put out so liberally by some hacks, pundits and pontificators!!!
I've even been gettin a little pist a John McGlaughlin of the McGlaughlin group. Buchannan still acts nuts as Eleanor at times and John keeps acting like a Europeean, steppin an tripin all over his own anatomy!!!

Forgive me, but I think you mistake my criticism. It's his repeatedly talking up the war with comments like "weeks not months" "time is running out" etc. that is, to be kind, unhelpful. Take all the time needed for the military buildup, but just stop the rhetoric. And for God's sake, if that is all he says again tonight (as rumored), will you then see my point?

Well, what can you do with someone who gets themselves all worked over their lack of patience and understanding, but laugh?
I just found the whole post ludicrous.

I just came back from book night with my daughter and I couldn't believe they had that word on the wall. Of course it was in the first grade class. LOL

No, but I can just see the next live press conference thread... If it's more proclamations of the obvious and nothing new, or DRAMATIC, in about the next 30 minutes, there'll be evil spirits inhabiting swine, plummeting over a cliff enmasse around here!!!

"The last thing I want to hear is a bunch of Q & A." I agree. This is THE last format the president should use to talk to the American people. I may be wrong, but I can't see how this is going to help him.
