An acquaintence of mine learned some lessons the hard way. He became an AMWAY dealer because he'd been led to believe that he could write off a bunch of things like a home office, car, etc. IRS won of course. He points out that if you are summoned to talk about a particular item on your return, only take information pertinent to that particular item and only talk about that.

Good advice. That's one thing they never tell you about the joys of being self employed, it throws up an automatic flag for further scrutiny.
