Interesting: Schumer playing the "Dem Senators are victims" card. So they will vote for Estrada, then use it to campaign for Senate majority citing they were victims and couldn't stop the judges appointed by Bush.

WE keep hearing from the same people. WHat about the "Silent majority"
Senaotor Kennedy "Hallucinated on the floor the other day"?????
You'd better enunciate better Schummie

Chuckie just said "Can you imagine running for election and refusing to answer any questions?"

But when the dims vote it goes down in the record and then they will definitely be scuttled when it comes to upcoming elections!
Please take good notes, RNC! (And then run those ads in heavily populated Hispanic areas that have dim representatives and senators.)
In other words, a message to the
Dysfunctional Daschle Democrats:
Kiss the thought of ever regaining a majority in the Senate "Good-bye."

I don't think a lost cloture vote is a defeat. It's one step in an ongoing battle front.
I like the idea of GOP objecting to all DEM legislative initiatives, until this confirmation is settled. Make the DEMs file cloture motions.

When Schumer started talking ,I watched his eyes. He knew he was not being truthful and showed it. He lies more easily as he goes along.

Schumer: Making a plea, I know President will get his way most of the time, but as long at the appointees are not ideologues, but the American people have no idea what kind of judge Estrada will be, so we must oppose mEstrada, or even moving forward, until we get more information.
WHY DIDN'T YOU ASK THEN?

Why do the Rats always seem to have the floor to speak for as long as they want and the Pubs have a short time?
To: RobFromGa
How do we know what kind of judge ANY of them will be really?

Are you watching? I'm cubicle-bound, so all I see are the words. We won this.Listening more than watching. Schumer just said "we must oppose the nomination of Miguel Estrada or at least oppose it moving forward" for the good of the country.
I thought they were getting in last digs, too. First vote probably will be as we initially predicted so they can show their base they tried? That's my very amateur guess.

When this first cloture vote goes down, it will instantly be transmitted around the country via internet and media in seconds. They won't be able to stand the heat.

It only takes a few minutes to expose the truth, it takes forever to obfuscate it.

So, the vote is on as soon as quorum call is complete.
. . . upon the ascertainment that a quorum is present, the Presiding Officer shall, without debate, submit to the Senate by a yea-and-nay vote the question:
"Is it the sense of the Senate that the debate shall be brought to a close?"
