He (Rumsfeld) was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois in 1962 and was re-elected in 1964, 1966 and 1968. This is about the last time the Republican Party was any good here in Illinois.
I live in Illannoyed, and I didn't know Rummy was from here. At least I have this to put a smile on my face today.
Go Rummy!

He was also on the board of directors of ABB when it signed a $200 million contract with Pyongyang to deliver equipment and services for two nuclear power stations. This was in 2000. What a swell guy!

Damned right I knew it! I've followed his career for years. He's downright brilliant.

I saw Rummy speak in person a little over a year ago. The person introducing him listed off his many accomplishments, after which Rummy stepped up to the podium and said, "Well, you make it sound like I can't hold a job!"
What a great guy.

Another little known fact:
Donald Rumsfeld was born in 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, attended Princeton University on scholarship, served in the U.S. Navy (1954-57) as an aviator, and was All Navy Wrestling Champion.
THE HONORABLE DONALD RUMSFELD

What I like best about Rummy is the fact that (in spite of his spectacular resume)
he's still married to the mother of his children and is a good husband, father and grandfather. Successful men who are also sleazeballs in their personal lives are simply losers who failed at the most important job they had: husband and father. Jack Welch is a perfect example. I'd mention The First Rapist, also, except I don't really consider him to be successful.

Sec. Rumsy is a great man...
