Update, I've changed the status of two:

8. ABU MOHAMMAD AL-MASRI, killed in a car bomb.

10. MUSTAFA AHMED AL-HISAWI (Hawsawi), Captured with Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.

So we've either killed or captured just over half of Al Qaeda's leadership. But, according to the Dems, somehow we're not doing enough to fight Al Qaeda.

You should create a separate site on the internet for this.

This is important, relevent and interesting information to all Americans IMHO.

Get a domain name alqaedaleaderstatus.com or huntthemdown.com or us911retribution.com etc. maybe all of the above.

Are you sure you are right about Muhammad Atef? He is still listed as outstanding at FBI.gov

Nice job dude.

They're worst nightmare is my sweetest dream. Good men with bad attitudes armed to the teeth with technology and weapons of indivdual destruction relentlessly tracking these bastards.

MOHAMMED OMAR ABDEL-RAHMAN, Egyptian, operational planner and trainer: At large.

Add this one to the CAPTURED list. He was caught a few months ago, perhaps with bin Shibh.

The first 7 killed and 9 captured came from the fox news story linked at top. Here are two sources that suggest he is dead.

Senior Bin Ladin Aide Believed Killed in U.S. Bombing Raid - November 16, 2001

Muhammed Atef, Osama bin Ladin's chief of military operations, is believed to have been killed by American bombs south of the Afghan capital on Thursday night. Mohammed Atef was bin Ladin's right-hand man and his designated successor.

Although U.S. officials said that Atef's body had not been found, a U.S. source quoted by Reuters said, "He's dead. We have credible intelligence--not confirmed 100 percent--that he may have met his maker."

bbc story - June 24, 2002

Its military chief, Muhammad Atef, was killed in an air raid in November. So was a member of Bin Laden's inner cabinet.

according to the Dems, somehow we're not doing enough to fight Al Qaeda.

And until we capture Bin Laden they will always portray us as not doing enough to stop Al Qaeda.

The Dims just do not get it. Americans are figuring out that they are more interested in getting elected, then in defeating terrorism. The election of '02 reflected that.

Dream Scenario: We capture Bin Laden soon.

Wet Dream Scenario: Nov. 2004 -Bush vs. Hillary. Polls show on week before election a 45-45 split. Three days before the election we capture Bin Laden. Bush wins 70-30. Bin Laden is history, Hillary is history!

Do you recall the FR thread or another source I can add to this list? I'd like to link as much to each name as possible.

Right now this is a work in progress. I've never created a web site, but if someone out there would like to use this information for their own site, go right ahead. It useful for two reasons, discredits the democrats and shows progress we're making with AQ.

Here are two sources, the New York Daily News and the New York Times:

As an example of keeping a secret, government officials said yesterday that they had captured Mohammed Omar Abdel-Rahman, a son of the blind Egyptian sheik accused of inspiring the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. He was arrested several weeks ago in Quetta, Pakistan, the source said.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/story/64377p-59994c.html

They had hoped to find Mr. Mohammed, but he had fled the apartment, eluding the authorities, as he had on numerous occasions. Instead, they found and arrested Muhammad Abdel Rahman, a son of Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, the blind Egyptian cleric who in 1995 was convicted along with 10 followers for conspiring to blow up the United Nations headquarters and other New York buildings, bridges and tunnels — as an extension of the first World Trade Center attack in 1993.

I just posted this story. Thanks for making me dig!

Authorities Cite 3 Major Terror Catches

U.S. officials say another senior al-Qaida operative and a suspected financier of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon also have been taken into custody.

[snip]

The alleged senior operative, Mohammed Omar Abdel-Rahman, is a son of the blind Egyptian sheik accused of inspiring the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

[snip]

Officials also identified a man captured with Mohammed on Saturday as suspected financier of the Sept. 11 attacks. His name and nationality were unclear. Pakistani Ahmed Abdul Qadus was also detained with the two.

Sorry for making you dig. I had to remember where I first saw it, then find it in the story.

I thought one of Rahman's other sons was killed in Afghanistan, but I could be wrong (and DON'T dig for it). I know two of his sons were with bin Laden for years.

From the link I just posted:

"The younger Abdel-Rahman was caught several weeks ago in Quetta, Pakistan, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity."

But......

Son of Convicted Terrorist Omar Abdel-Rahman Captured in Afghanistan - November 29, 2001

"Cairo lawyer Montasser el-Zayat, who defends Islamic militant suspects, said the captured son, Ahmed Abdel-Rahman was being held in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif and his interrogators included Americans. El-Zayat said forces in Afghanistan were looking for Ahmed's brother, Mohammed, who was also in the country."

What happened? Was he captured and released back in November 2001?
