'Have You Forgotten?' lyrics
Verse
I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend
(sheryl crow wearing protest shirt at American Music Awards)
Chorus
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Verse
They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right
Chorus
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you vow to get the ones behind bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Bridge
I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for
Chorus 3
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Steve Warren, who consults for about 40 country radio stations, wouldn't have applauded. "Singing a song about going to war with Saddam because bin Laden hit us is a leap of logic that I don't think any informed people outside the White House can make," Warren says. "I wouldn't play the thing, no matter how many requests I got for the sucker."
Gee, I'm so glad the radio stations are hiring people so much smarter than myself to decide what I should listen to. I guess I'm too uninformed to realize that connecting Saddam to terrorists threatening the lives of our citizens is an incredible "leap of logic". Radio consultant? What kind of BS job is that? Any station manager who hires this idiot is an even bigger idiot.
Excellent presentation, BTW.

great job. only suggestion for a future revision, a good picture of a jumper for the "living hell" line. But this is outstanding just the way it is.
And I agree with him when he says that we should still be seeing the planes slamming into the WTC more frequently.

may seem to equate Saddam Hussein with Osama bin Laden And whats wrong with that? Saddam supports terrorists, including Al Qaida and OBL. He would have done what OBL did if he could. He tried to kill our first President Bush. Seems pretty similar to OBL to me.

Darryl Worley's cd "Have You Forgotten" is due in stores in May. I expect the release date will be bumped up due to the success of the single.
Consultant Steve Warren is, I'm sure, nothing more than a failed program director. Most of them are. He's clueless when it comes to understanding a Country audience. Since we first debuted the song a week ago, "Have You Forgotten" has been the most requested song on my station.

Steve Warren, who consults for about 40 country radio stations, wouldn't have applaudedVery unusual for a country/western music lover to be anti American. Almost every person I talk to who loves country music is patriotic. It fits hand in glove. mr ferret ooops warren needs to study a few fair and balanced reports and try to understand what is really happening.

Great work!
Actually the guy deserving credit for getting Darryl Worley's song message out to the nation is Phil Valentine, a Nashville talk show host. He started playing the dsong a few weeks ago and sent it on to Sean Hannity.
I hope more people hear the song and see this moving pictorial account of lyrics.
