Bush and God
A higher calling: It is his defining journey-from reveler to revelation. A biography of his faith, and how he wields it as he leads a nation on the brink of war
By Howard Fineman
NEWSWEEK
March 10 issue - George W. Bush rises ahead of the dawn most days, when the loudest sound outside the White House is the dull, distant roar of F-16s patrolling the skies. Even before he brings his wife, Laura, a morning cup of coffee, he goes off to a quiet place to read alone...

Long but revealing. What a refreshing change over the previous admin.

Its not recreational reading (recently, a biography of Sandy Koufax). Instead, hes told friends, its a book of evangelical mini-sermons, My Utmost for His Highest. The author is Oswald Chambers, and, under the circumstances, the historical echoes are loud. How wonderful that President Bush reads this book of daily meditations!!! This is my absolute favorite Christian book, (not including The Bible, of course--LOL).
Oswald Chambers was definitely a man anointed by God to teach the Gospel. You think you know what it means to be a Christian.......until you read Oswald Chambers' daily devotionals for his seminary students. Chambers sets the bar ten feet higher than wherever you are.
May God bless our President!!! We need to remember to pray for President Bush every time we pray--and thank God every day that he's our President.

It's the "I don't know" you have to wonder about. As far as separation of Church and State goes, where other than the DNC charter does it say, Leaders must be God-less self- serving morons?

I enjoyed the article...thanks for posting...but couldn't help wondering about the line about the fact that bible study groups were allowed in the WH during the Clintonites.IF it was true, those poor people must have felt as if they were in the endtimes.

Oswald Chambers is GREAT. I always walk away from his readings feeling chastened and humbled.

Oswald's daily devotional is not "light" reading--and I am very encouraged that our President reads this book very day. I am not near so disciplined--but whenever I turn to Chambers his words have this incredible ability to nail my all too human nature right to the cross. Of course my mind squirms to escape the message of the words, but my Spirit is held fast by their Truth!

I think your all crazy. I think those books and President Bush's strong religion is one reason he is so harsh on Muslims in the middle east.
